Druthers? That will boost my lexicon. Since commuting across LA is a nightmare almost any time of the day, you would want to live as close to where you work/shop/school, etc. There are many nice areas, but of course the nicer it is, the more expensive. If you like living

by the water:

Long Beach

Inland:

**Downtown LA
*Culver City
*West LA
Inglewood
Hawthorne

Of course, LA like many many other U.S. cities at the moment is experiencing its gentrification of downtown. A great choice for the central location and the hub to all of LA.

Too many.....

The Canals (So peaceful and beautiful at sunset/night, lots of hot girls nearby on Abbot Kinney)

Santa Monica (Farmers Market and Expo Line are 2 of the reasons)

Sawtelle (Safe, walkable, lots of Japanese food)

Koreatown (For me it has everything....restaurants, bars, 24 hour spots, Wiltern, close to Hollywood and Downtown, Metro Red/Purple Line, hot girls)

Silver Lake (nice quiet hillside home)

Kinda like going back in time 25 years. If that's where you do all your business I guess its ok.

My first choice but way out of my budget.
Sawtelle (Safe, walkable, lots of Japanese food)
Trendy and expensive. But a nice community to cycle through.
Koreatown (For me it has everything....restaurants, bars, 24 hour spots, Wiltern, close to Hollywood and Downtown, Metro Red/Purple Line, hot girls)
Not to big on the ethnic, but very, very clean and a great hub location for commuting to anywhere you need to go.

The Westside neighborhoods are where you tend to find all the hot model girls, but many can be found in the San Fernando Valley hoods of Encino, Sherman Oaks, and Studio City. The CBS TV studios are in Studio City and that ensures a good supply of pretty females looking for fame. Asanebo (Michelin-Starred) for sushi right in front of CBS, and just down Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks you have Ramen by Omae; both of these can rival any Westside or Manhattan place. The beaches of Malibu are a not too-far canyon dive away.

I'd lean toward somewhere near Hollywood because it has the movie theaters and restaurants I like.

Have you seen a movie at the Vista Theater?

It's probably my favorite in all of LA. It's at the clusterfock of Sunset Blvd, Sunset Drive, Hillhurst, Hollywood, and Virgil.

But there is something about watching a movie at Cinerama Dome at Arclight. Can't beat having Amoeba next door.

Also you gotta go see a concert at Hollywood Bowl!! It's like not going to Griffith Observatory, in other words it's a must!!!

If you are a movie buff and noire fan go have a drink at the Frolic Room.

Also big mistake that tourists make when visiting Hollywood is not eating Thai at Thai Town, hitting up the Middle Eastern chicken joints like Zankou, Ro Ro's, and Al Wazir, ice cream at Mashti Malone's, and getting a bacon wrapped hot dog.

No I haven't been to the Vista. I'll have to check it out.

I've been to the Hollywood Arclight probably 10 times.

As a Disney fan I love the El Capitan theater...Its also where I snuck onto the set of The Muppet Movies reshoot and was an extra.

I love the New Beverly as well.

I'd love to go to the Hollywood Bowl. Would be awesome to see the Nightmare Before Christmas concert there.
