Should you teach your children to fight???

As title states???

This question comes about after reading ******** post, a mother pulled her child out of school and she has decided to home school after her child was punched in the face.

Now I understand concept of respect and treating everyone how you would like to be treated BUT do you think her child should learn to or at least be able to stick up /defend themselves?? The child was in primary school.

If I had children I would definitely teach them to defend themselves and not take **** from anyone, especially if someone is threaten you and making you feel little. Everyone should learn how to throw a punch and only use in extreme situation.

What are your thoughts????

put em in boxing, so they can at least defend themselves and are condition to counter punch as self defense only, and have confidence enough to go through situations knowing they will be ok

Yes, fighting will also teach them self control and how to control situations a lot better than someone who has no experience in conflict.

To the title question - Yes teach your children how to stand up for themselves, do what's right, and defend themselves if needed.

But in regards to the ******** post it would depend on what caused the child to get punched in the face that is pretty important to know as well.

I do not mean teach children to go around busting up everyone face. I'm talking about teaching children to defend themselves, not just learning to throw a punch but also learn how to block someone attacking them, basic self defence at the very least.

Have them train jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, muay thai. Any one of those will do but training all of them will give you one badass kid

Why would that be so wrong? Having a child who respects everyone but can also put you on your ass if you try to punch them in face unprovoked

If my son is being bullied and someone picks a fight with him, and he defends himself and gets in trouble with the school, he will not get in trouble at home. I was taught to defend myself as a kid and I did. I will teach the same thing to my son, but he must also show restraint and not just resort to getting physical from the get go. There's a time and place for it, and I have no problem teaching my son that. I don't believe in coddling children. That only leads to a harder future for them.

Being trained to fight carries with it a responsibility. I think it's kinda unreasonable to burden a child in primary school with that responsibility already.

Better to focus on mental toughness in your education. It's not like the other kids are gonna head stomp yours in the parking lot, they're gonna pull of his/her hat and throw it in the mud... You don't want to be the one bringing extra violence to school in the form of a kid that packs a punch. Before you know it, some brat's older brother is beating your kid into the hospital as revenge for a busted lip.

Nothing wrong with joining some sort of martial arts group as young child, be ton of benefits i.e. interacting with other children, learning discipline, being active, strengthen your cognitive skills and also learn to defend while having fun
