Auto miscers, i recently just purchased myself a new car

being in the UK, fuel prices, road tax and car insurance are ridiculously high, ESPECIALLY if youre only 20 and havent been in full time work for very long....used to drive a 2005 Audi A4 3.0 Convertible (i was fortunate enough to inherit this from my grandfather - rip), but this was costing close to 2k for a year of insurance, 285 in road tax a year and then 300-350 in petrol each month (work is about 22miles each way). Above all this though was the fact that i am a trainee tax advisor, certainly not bad money for someone my age, but it is a trainee job and so its still chit pay.. until im qualified (2 years time) - SO, i had a nose around on some car sites, and came across a VW Golf mk5 GT (170hp diesel - always loved the mk5 shape golf) and it ticked all the right boxes - quick, cheap to run, cheap to insure, cheap to tax, AND i didnt see it as a downgrade from my Audi (this was a big issue haha).

stats on the golf -
170HP
0-60 is 7.5 Secs (Audi was around 8)
Road tax is only 145 a year
Insurance was 840 a year
MPG is around 62 on a good run to work (Audi was 30 - these are English gallons btw not american)
done 40k miles (Audi had done 140k)


Cliffs for you
- inherited nice A4 3.0 from Grandfather
- costs loads to run
- im only 20 and in a trainee job (although a decent sector)
- need a cheaper run about with similar 'style' 'street cred'
- bought a Golf mk5 GT
- cost to change was 3,500
- ?????
