Anyone here taken finasteride?
Am very seriously considering going on it at 1mg, but I want to see a dermatologist first as well.
Have been taking minoxidil for 2 months now and my hairline has receded a fuk ton. I went from perfecto NW0 hairline to a NW1 in the course of like 3 months.
I have finasteride sitting at home but I've never actually taken it and now that my hairline is getting fukked I'm seriously starting to consider it...

NW1 is a normal mature male hairline.

Why in the world did you take minox when you already had a NW0 hairline??? Let me guess, you probably allowed the misc to convince you that you were balding even when you already had a perfect hairline LOL

Been on Fin for about 2 years now. Have not noticed any substantial hair loss in that time, and quite happy with the decision. Wish I would have gotten on it when I originally considered it about 4 years ago.

I've thought about it but I just want to get through college with good hair aka 3 more years that's all bro then I don't really give a fuk tbh

I've already buzzed my head before and it didn't really look that bad, the anxiety is worse than anything tbh.
Your actual face doesn't change, it's only hair. But at the end of the day, I still want my fukking hair while I go through college man

Possible depression will come when your hairline recedes more if you don't decide to treat it.
You may or may not feel some sides in the beginning but it will pass.

Strongly considering hopping on like 1mg a day finasteride and seeing what happens.

Only thing is I would like to see a derm or an endocrinologist and stuff but that may take months because I may have to go to a physician first to be referred and my parents are like "your hair is fine quit worrying about it"
So they don't even want to help me

took fin for 4 months, within 2 weeks started having erection problems. kept using it hoping it would get better, was more worried about hair anyway so didnt care
been off it 1.5 years still have extreme problems getting an erection and on the rare occasion i can it goes completely limp within a minute
hair has naturally gotten worse and now my d*ck doesnt work

Yeah looks like NW2 but thinning. Pulled back like that looks bad on a lot of guys. Get a professional opinion.

Don't take it. Only slows progression at best in the long run, and reduces DHT to low levels. Say goodbye to beard growth and dick function in the long run.

you should check this thread out:http://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showth...hp?t=158889153
anyway, my personal story:
- at age 19 noticed i was starting to lose hairs, btw i was the type to make fun of people who said they had sides and told them it was in their head;
- hopped on fin 1mg daily for 1 month, then switched to 1 quarter of the 5mg pill every day/EOD (due to it being way cheaper).
- noticed halting of hairs falling out within 2-3 weeks and parts of hairline looking thicker (i probably noticed effects so fast because i took fin basically within 1mo of noticing hairloss);
- no sides for the first 2 months - if anything, noticed stronger erections (initial rise in test due to a-5 inhibitor blocking conversion of Test to DHT);
- after 2 months, noticed puffier nipples and less frequent and slightly weaker erections; only felt the need to fap once weekly as opposed to daily/EOD as previously; also, to get hard i had to physically touch myself (couldn't get hard via thought/looking at porn alone). got an ultrasound on nipples which confirmed presence of gyno (albeit, very minimal and not really noticeable with the naked eye);
- after 3 months on fin noticed NO MORE morning erections at all, which is a big problematic sign, because this can't really be said to be in one's head.
- after 1.5 months more on fin, still with no morning erections, i stopped fin all together;
- after 1 month OFF fin, morning erections came back, increasingly more frequently, and so too did the urge to fap and not having to touch myself to get hard;
- at the same time, i notice hairs starting to fall out again. doesn't bother me now though, having been through those sides.
all that being said, i might be one of the unlucky 'x'%. i used to tell people to **** off with their sides, referencing whichever scientific study. then i realised that not all studies are done well, and also may be paid for by companies with conflicted interests, so to speak. the most famous relevant study puts people suffering sides to be at 0.6% or something; but, many people, including doctors, will say this figure should be larger. ive been to 3 different doctors regarding this. one said its a harmless drug and should be fine, but the other 2 warned heavily against it.
