My uncle called me a kid for playing video games at the age of 29

My uncle came to stay over at our house for 2 weeks and noticed me playing video games most of the time. He told my dad, 'what is he doing there, playing childish video games like a little kid all day long, doesn't he have anything else/better to do'. Although he has left, but felt bad.

Yes, but he was way too straight-forward and rude to pass a major judgment like that, it's not like he was joking or being funny/well he wasn't being angry/bullish either.

Even if I was to work, how much am I gonna work? I need time for my leisure/hobbies.

Well he's right
I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self.

I hate when my Dad and Mom say chit like this about my hobbies. "You still playing that nintendo" "watching those chinese cartoon, reading those comics, why don't you do some adult things?" Before I just ignore, now my go to answer is oh yeah let me pick up a beer, get chitfaced and sit in the porch and talk about the neighbor and his issues. Let me put down my videogame so I can stare at the TV and watch news on repeat all day. They alway chit on my hobbies when the only hobby they have is drinking and TV.

Strong point there. How productive can someone get? Do what? work hard for 16 hours? So I can get sick fast and cry about my life at some point? Work gets tiring at some point and yeah repetitive and boring also. What is up with people wanting to change jobs all the time.

I mean he is right, it is childish.

But that's not really a bad thing. Especially if you enjoy it.

I don't own a system but anytime I'm over at my bros house I game with him and thoroughly enjoy it.
No issue with it op, as long as it doesn't consume your life of course. Keep on doing you

Peoples gonna always chit no matter how well you are doing with your life. Beer was my obsession at some point also, but even that part got boring real fast. News, its mostly depressing, educated people talking about issues that have nothing to do with our lives and exploiting nations and people's miseries that reach to no purpose.

Its not like he is a bad person. I didn't respond back coz of him being my uncle. But how will he feel if someone said to him something similar about his son?

Good job. You've obviously learned not to make it an everyday habit and balance it out with other things. Same could not be said for a lot of *******s who are big into gaming

Sure everyone needs to be productive in order to enjoy their hobbies/passions at the first place. But its not like productivity/being waste is the ultimate cycle of life. Hate it when people are so hard on someone.

exactly what i mean. dude is immature himself. a grown man shouldn't be another grown man a "kid." if a person has hobbies, or enjoys different things, whatever the age, it's not childish by any means. it's a passion for something, an interest.

it's different if all you're doing is sitting there, doing drugs, and playing games for the rest of your life. that is a completely different situation though.

I work as a cashier at my dad's supermarket for at least 10 hours everyday, sometimes help him out with other stuff. I am his only son, so I am cool with that. He pays me well also.
