Iphone 8 will force users to use facial recognition tech

The star of the show, however, is the new face scanning technology.

Instead of using a password or pattern, iPhone 8 users will unlock their device just by looking at it. And according to a report from Axios, those who’ve checked out the technology claim it’s “light-years beyond anything that’s been tried commercially.”

Several challenges have plagued previous efforts, such as Samsung’s foray into facial recognition being famously fooled by photographs and perplexed by spectacles. Facial recognition is almost useless unless it works perfectly; the whole point has to be ease-of-use.

Apple may have solved these problems by adding several new sensors to the iPhone 8, including a 3D facial recognition sensor, and an infrared sensor that will allow the phone to look for you in the dark — similar to how the Microsoft Kinect works.

The iPhone 8 is also getting a brand new clutter-free OLED screen with crisper colors and sharper images, and with the addition of facial recognition you won’t have to mess it up with your grubby fingerprints to unlock it.

If Apple gets this right and pulls off seamless facial recognition it’ll be a coup for the Cupertino company. This could place the iPhone ahead of competition in a way it hasn’t been since it made the touch screen mainstream in its first iteration.

I had my 5s for 4 years, just bought Iphone SE for 150 bucks at best buy att prepaid phone. Legit, keeping my 5s in drawer as back up.


if you are interested, they have them here. and the prepaid is legit, unlim text, talk, and 6gb then throttled for 40 a month after 5 dollar auto pay discount. I switched from my 80-90 post paid to prepaid and not one regret. same service, half the price.

Which it didn't, there had been tons of touch screen phones before the Iphone. This is Apple being stupid as usual, but the cucks will buy. On the plus side, Iphone is getting wireless charging, an infinity display, and an OLED screen, all of which Samsung had 3 years ago, very nice.

lol guys i know android people like to circle jerk each other as much as apple fanboys do.. but if the article is legit you really don't ****ing think apple has thought of this?

brb maybe it keeps a running tab on faces so if you lose weight its adjusting over time.. same with age etc.
brb maybe facial hair or those regions are not hot spots for the recognition.

we don't know yet so lets calm down and chit on it after they drop the keynote.

I used facial recognition on an old Android. I'd assume technology has improved, but in the past if it couldn't recognize you for any reason it would let you put a pin in. I imagine apple would have some kind of similar backup option.
