ITT Things we regret buying.
I fully expect to get flamed for this but I once bought a minidisk player instead of an MP3 player because I thought MP3 would never catch on...
Years later I would go on to pick the Zune over an iPod

a Weber Infrared grill.
Thought I would be king of the castle with hi-tech grilling technologies.
I was rused.
The thing gets hot as balls really really fast, but they have this random plate covering the flame that doesn't really prevent flair ups or give you that there fire grilled effect. It also really only stays hot as hell unless you vent it manually.
Indirect heat methods are virtually impossible due to its convection style design and slow cooking is insanely difficult to do on it.
You can cook steak on it fairly well because it sears like a mother f-cker. then you just turn it off and move the steak to the top after sear the 2nd side.
But all in all.. Not worth it.
My $250 Char-Broil grill from Target works better. srs.
oh well.

Bought a $45,000 center console when we lived near a very large lake. We used it 2-3x/week at that point and it was worth every penny.
Then in 2010 we bought a foreclosure 50 minutes from the lake and the marina where we kept the boat and never got to use it. It was middle of recession and couldn't sell it and was eating $500/month on a boat we never used. Plus insurance and such. That lasted 3 years until I was able to sell it.

My power cage, my guitars and all the accessories were all things I invested money in thinking I'd get good use out of them but didn't. So I had to sell them in the end, after moving around too many times and then to another country. In the end my landlords didn't like me having it set up, and I ended up choosing keys over strings.
Everything I bought because it was cheap only to end up buying a better one when I should have just bought the good one from the beginning and saved money. This is mostly my mountaineering gear, and my keyboard is really, really low end. I bought it for the equivalent of $60 when I could have gotten a much better one for about $150. Still low end but a much better action.
