You won $900 million: what do?

You are at work thinking about macros and co worker tells you someone in your town won. You look up numbers and realize it’s you. You take out your phone to post about it then decide not to. The ticket is at home in your bedroom.

What do?

I’d go home sick and sign the ticket, scan it and email to myself. Look up laws in my state if I can collect anonymous.
Also, you do all your charity upfront so if you are making a scholarship or something it’s coming out of the $400 million tax, leaving you work $500 million

I’d find two friends or family to join my entourage so that I can feel safe. Pay them salary to follow me around and assist me. Start traveling by visiting friends all over. Find a way to meet Hannah hays, Lana roads, Ana rose, ella Elly something that petite blond forgot her name. Would interview them for Misc. Maybe buy gdp and replace the dude with me lol and slay amateurs for life.

On serious note I’d go to every doctor and work on perfecting health with diet medicine and exercise. Get some mma coaching. Also get a tutor to learn a language.

put 860 mil to the bank for interest and with the rest go get an ATPL.

Ah also go to some luxury hotel and rent the penthouse, fill it with high class escorts, expensive alcohol and some stuff like that and spend there a month.

Lawyer up and look into claiming the winnings anonymously. Then retire and move to a new city where no one knows me.

Not sign the ticket because then I can’t set up a trust to claim it and everyone will know I won

Also, if you take the lump sum you’ll walk with about 350 million

If you take the annuity it’s about 600 million after taxes

Retain a fancy attorney in Trust & Estates and insist on working with a lead partner.

Take the lump sum. Collect winnings in a comically terrible disguise. Hand money to lawyer. Special person and I disappear for a few months. Probably doing something super nerdy like the New York Times Crossword Puzzle cruise, I've always wanted to do that. After a day onboard, regretfully consider that I should have chartered a yacht.

Pay millions and millions in taxes.

Allocate 20% to family members. Tell my attorney this number. S/he takes care of that, and any 'suggestions' made by family members will be met with "Huh, that's interesting."

Continue working with same financial advisor, probably. Unless someone can change my mind here.

Dump half of what remains into a boring ass S&P 500 index fund.

I now have a HUGE nest egg that is growing at market rates. What now? I have more financial security than 99% of the country. Because my lawyer is worth his salt I will be insulated from most lawsuits. We would have a serious conversation about the level of volunteer work that will keep me fulfilled while keeping me away from being sued. I would buy a modest but nice house in a legal state, and maybe a getaway in Maine. Both homeswillhave a giant bathtub and a fireplace in the bathroom. Buy a new organ for my synagogue. Hope that nothing changes too badly, but it will. Try not to ruin my life or the live's of those I love.

Here's my thought on the lump sum situation. There is an extremely crummy rate for the annuity, usually hovering around 4.5% annual return or less, depending. It doesn't take much to do better than this, and if you have the money already in cash rather than leaving it in the hands of the state, you can pull from the capital as you'd like. If you take the annuity you won't have access to that cash. That could be good or bad. Perhaps bad unless you have a very addictive personality. If you need an allowance managed by the state, it is because you didn't listen to your lawyer wearing a suit that costs more than your entire current home, and you're going to screw this up anyway.

First I'd go to the top most expensive college I could get accepted to, for the college experience of being rich af. Then I'd take a few years touring the world banging exotic sloots and staying at top resorts. Then I'd buy 1,000 acres of land and start a cult community where everyone let's me bang their wives and then has to raise my children I impregnated their wife with in order to stay a member and keep residence.

Lump sum, all-in on a ladder of NYS muni bonds. Should generate $8.5m+ in annual income, can live in Manhattan free of federal, state, and municipal income taxes.

If I take $500k/mo for beer money, will leave $2.5m/yr to re-invest in things I can afford to lose on, gift, and donate. Keep it humble: first-class flights because a private jet seems wasteful, summers in Europe, winters in Arizona.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.
