Do you lift? ALL micers get in here. srs discussion and roll call thread.

Do you lift? As long as you do it at least once per week or more, you can consider yourself a "lifter" in terms of this roll call poll. It doesn't matter if you lift for bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, basic weightlifting, or any other variation or reason. Just that it's done with some sort of consistency.

Vote at a minimum. Open discussion is encouraged. Share your personal stories about lifting - how you got into it, why you do it, and the type(s) of lifting you have pursued - if you can. Don't insult anyone for their stories unless they are dicks about it.

Personally, I've been lifting for about 13 years. Got into it at 17 after only messing around with it because high school football coaches wanted all the players to do it. Go serious at 18, and lost a bunch of fat too. Got into powerlifting as a hobbyist in my 20's, with a large emphasis on B/S/D/OHP big BB lifts. DB and other work was strictly secondary and complimentary to my BB powerlifting goals. Into my late 20's and 30's, I transitioned into dumbbell work as my primary lifting, with BB work complimenting it, but not a lot low rep/max type of work, as it began chitting all over my joints at this point.

Poll incoming.

Been going to gym for almost a year now. 5 times a week.

I don't do squats due to poor flexibility tho. And I think im doing somethign wrong with conventional deadlift.

Been lifting for 10 years. I've made very little gains in the past few years though. I keep telling myself they're coming soon, but they never do.

Yes I lift, but do I look like a lifter? Probably not unless I'm in a tanktop after a juicy pump.

Started when I was tired of being treated like chit and never getting any luck with getting chicks back towards the very end of 9th grade - so when I was 15 1/2.

Senior year now. 18 yrs old. Nearing 3 yrs of lifting. Have a 255/405/465 bench/squat/deadlift which is pretty poverty IMO. Have way better luck with chicks now. Confidence is day and night. I've gotten myself involved and in leadership positions so life's pretty good.

Had the same issue, tried to fix it for months by improving flexibility & form, it helped to a certain degree but even then it just didn't feel right so I stopped doing them.

Switched squats for leg press.

I lift. Every year for about 4 months during summer and fall my energy is directed to my other hobby (see avi) so way less lifting. Truthfully I really don't enjoy it all that much. I do it because I don't want to turn into a lazy slob and I like having some shape/muscle.

Sadly been a bit inconsistent with lifts lately, about 2-3 times per week when I used to prefer doing 5-7 times per week. Diet has been off too, both due to job changes. But can't wait to get back into the swing of it and also re-commit to the misc because 2019 is gonna be the best year yet for us all.

Want to be a gymcel.

We're all gonna make it brahs.
