Got some new art yesterday

Visited the artists studio last week and commissioned it, was finished yesterday. Oil on canvas, boyos. Starting to invest more in higher quality pieces to elevate the place.

You could say that about some of the most famous works in the world to be honest. Art can't be measured in the complexity of it or time spent on it, more about the artist themselves and how the view feels about it.

It's like when people look at a Jackson Pollock and say "I could splatter paint on a canvas". LMAO

This one was $1500 and this guy has been getting big the last few years, could appreciate in value if his trajectory continues.

Trust me I am fully aware misc is full of low brow boot cut wearing slack jaws, so this is fully expected. Had to share anyways as I am quite pleased.

Art is definitely subjective. I personally do measure art based the complexity of it and the time spent on it. Not a huge fan of most minimalist and abstract visual art (which is interesting because musically I listen to a lot of stuff that can be considered minimal adjacent).

To each his own though, bottom line is you didn't buy it for me to look everyday; if it works for you that's what matters. It does fit your place tho, nice little splash of color against the clean modern interior.

This. You came to the misc to feel validated for your chit art, and when it didn't happen you snapped like a toddler.

I can appreciate good art as well as the next guy. You just don't have it in your apt. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Suddenly everyone ITT is an expert on what makes art (very subjective) good, yet they can't name any artists aside from Van Gogh and Picasso

Also art is an investment, the right pieces appreciate in value dramatically. OP has done his homework and will most likely profit from this

Deal with those wires bro.

Otherwise, artwork is completely subjective so if it makes you happy and you are ok with the price tag, gjdm

It actually has a lot of hidden messages which is cool.

And probably, I had to sign an NDA to acquire a few. Some are more 'artifacts' than full blown paintings too

Thanks brah, have a ridiculous amount of plants in the place now and they help improve the look drastically. And yeah the cords are something that I never thought much about but everyone has made sure to let me know to unfuk them LMAO.

I commit to having them hidden the next time I post up a pic.

Damn that has my curiosity raging, mirin though. I am trying to only get more unique stuff going forward. Before this I got a Murakami lithograph signed by the man himself, but trying to go with originals from now on. I want to get more "artifact" type historical stuff too - need to find an old samurai helmet or something and throw it in a glass case.

Everything is so damn expensive now too. I bought a 1500 year old samurai sword with real shark skin handle in pretty good shape for 1/10th what theyre going for now. Everyone is spending crazy $$

Yeah, but what was the ivanka email controversy? She have noods floating around??

Art matches the other decor, plants look fantastic. Nothing like a bit of green to liven up the place.
