Dog-walkers are a sign of a safe neighborhood. That's what our realtor said when he was showing us places.

I'd say massive yard decorations, well maintained lawns/intricate landscaping and fancy gates or cars in the driveways.

Definitely hedges + gates with elaborate/long driveways with the homes completely hidden from the street.

A good sign is when there are always work trucks during the day. Landscapers, roofers, tree experts, deliveries of new appliances, flooring guys, remodelers, etc...it means people are continually spending money and reinvesting in their homes. I'd say that is the best sign of a wealthy and healthy neighborhood.

I drive by affluent neighborhoods and I'm always struck by the size of the homes, like even if we put all of our lifetime resources towards it we couldn't afford a home like that.

Then it has the 400k motorhome parked beside it, a Lexus SUV and new F350 in the driveway, and a sports car in the garage.

One thing I noticed on Palm Beach Island was that nearly every nice home you could see the driveway through or around the hedges had either a Bentley or Rolls in the driveway, seemingly the chauffeur car was the only car left out.

I live in a very affluent neighborhood, most rich folks don't have fences but rather shrub/hedge perimeters or just an open space. On rare occasions, they will have very spaced out rails.

Yea, my sister lives in a neighborhood where they've got those fancy gates, then a wrap-around driveway, almost like a cobble-stone courtyard, but people park their nice cars there, even though they have like 3 car garages.

In the UK lots of dog walkers means the total opposite. Also lots of dogs just means all you can hear all day and night is dogs barking, a sign of the working class.

Not sure you know the meaning of a dog walker. People pay $50+ a day to have their dog walked by someone who does it for a living. In cities you'll sometimes see a person walking 5-6 dogs at once for instance as they make the rounds in a particular neighborhood.

Middle class folks cannot afford to allocate their discretionary income towards that sort of expense.
