Being from Florida was your first mistake.

Same reason people modify cars: to make it better or explore performance limitations.

Naturally, some of it is a looks thing, but being from the Northeast where we can get 3 feet of snow in one day and we enjoy outdoor pastimes, ground clearance definitely helps. I will never not own at least an SUV for that reason. Going up to my buddy's cabin for deer season every year, you better have at least a Subaru Forester's ground clearance or you're taking your oil pan off.

95% never even go offroad and even if they do few actually have a need to be lifted. Screws up the drivability. What I really don't get is the one's that lift their truck then put on big rims with low profile tires... what exactly are they trying to do? It's as bad as putting a wing on the back of a FWD car.

This, so much this. I've got a little redneck side so I like a tastefully lifted truck (2-6" at most, and sitting level or with a VERY slight rake [back slightly higher than front], none of that Cali lean bullchit where it looks like it's trying to take off into orbit), but the giant rims/rubber band "offroad" tires trend is just awful. I've got 34's on my factory 20" wheels and I still feel like that is too much wheel for the tire, going to switch to 18's with a similar size tire next year.

Absolutely - Only racial slur that is still readily accepted and used.

If you havent read "redneck manifesto" it will open your eyes. I definitely dont agree with some of the stuff in the book but it presents a completely different perspective.
