I sincerely hope Netflix goes out of business.

Reports are this morning that they lost 2m subscribers in the US this year and are panicked. Good.

Anyone even remember how they started?

"Hey we have every movie ever made. Tell us which 3 you want this week and we'll mail them to you".

That went to

"Hey we can do the same thing without the mail. Pick any movie you've ever thought of and watch it instantly with us"

That went to

"Hey yeah we're going to have to remove some of the less watched movies for budget reasons"

That went to where we are now

"Lol were basically expensive, poverty HBO. We've got people paying us monthly to watch 2 TV series we produce ourselves and for a few random movies nobody wants"

Did Netflix ever have any good movies you could stream? I always remember their selection being **** from the start and its essentially only worth using if you like watching the various TV Shows.

They fukked up by attempting to change their original premise just to reduce their expenses.

Have a limited (3 movie) for $9.99 plan, premium (5 movie) for $12.99 plan, and unlimited (no limit) for $24.99 plan or something and have a billion movies in the database again or something. I know people who sold off their dvd collection thinking Netflix was the future when they actually had content.

I have a few things on my watch list. As soon as those are gone I will cancel. Not just for the SJW garbage and the obnoxious slants with everything, but yeah really disappointed with the lack of any real selection

Cancelled my subscription ages ago. I only ever used it for anime and their anime selection is minimal, at best.

Now my life is basically kids shows, anyway, so we just buy DVDs once a month for that at $5 a pop and do just fine.

Didn't they just pay the Obama's several million to help produce a bunch of new SJW shows. I may have heard that wrong, but politics aside, it definitely seems like they completely went away from what made them successful in the beginning.

A lot of the quality loss is stemming from networks taking their content off Netflix and launching their own streaming platforms. Netflix worked because it was able to deliver a ton of content at a low price, and once the networks saw the insane revenue Netflix was generating, they thought they could do the same. Eventually every network is going to charge ~$9.99/month and it'll be just as(if not more than) expensive as cable.

I have the VRV app, Crunchyroll and funimation, but mostly because I like the ability to stream on my TV.

What's weird is I've had the "free trial" for Crunchyroll for months. They just never charged me. Lol

Don't agree here. I had Netflix way back in the mail order days too. But they did pave the way with streaming, and it was a big success. People aren't waiting for movies to arrive in the mail anymore, now when I can DL a torrent or pull up a XBox rental stream. DVDs are dead.

Netflix messed up with the deals the did for content though. This push to have all originals has narrowed their selection.

This is basically it. Pretty soon we're actually going to be in a ****tier position than we were with cable, every network will sell their channel a la carte and because we don't have a nice package for the networks and majority will only be paying our ISP for internet not tv anymore pirating will increase exponentially with things like popcorntime for shows that people don't consider worth the money, the networks trying to make us download 20 apps for different content is not going to work in their favor see the video game industry...it's the same **** you see w/ launchers, people actually choose to not use the launchers or buy games if they aren't on steam because maintaining that many passwords/ids/platforms is tedious.

They're dead dude. People used to have tons of VHS tapes too. Just the way things go. It's defintiely not a good business mdoel to stick with DVDs, and avoid streaming which is a mutli-billion dollar indsutry.
