They gave me horrible fuking service. Took me 20 fuking minutes to get my motherfuking check. Horrible food, horrible service. And that was the only time I didn't tip in my entire life. I usually tip 15-20% except at delis, where I generally don't tip because there is zero service. I'm not going to fuking pay extra especially if the service is subpar. This senator is a dumb piece of chit. So is every waiter who bitches about a chit tip. There's no point having the tip if you're expected to pay a certain amount more than the fuking negotiated price. There's a fuking contract. There are terms. Also restuarants should not be able to take a portion of tips for profit, which they do try in my area. Even know of a bar that unionized over it. The owners were pissed.

See the simple truth is that most restaurants cannot afford to pay out a fuking 401k and the reason is that a waiter job is one of the lowest skill, most simple jobs there is. That means it isn't worth much to the economy. It will never be worth enough for a fuking 401k. It's never gonna fuking happen, and any communists like Bernie who try to make it happen are just going to fuk the economy doing that. You can't legislate retarded. If a restaurant sucks, it sucks. At the better restaurants, you'll find chefs making like $100k+ and waiters getting $30/hr in tips alone. That's what happens when you run a business that kicks ass. So, maybe these ppl should stop bitching. I get that we don't have a perfectly capitalist system, and that there is inefficiency, but the idea that some waiter should be getting $20/hr + benefits and a retirement package for pouring water and serving food is a fuking joke.

The reality is that the tip is part of the meal price nowadays. If you cannot afford to/don't want to tip at least 17% then you shouldn't be going out to eat. The servers are paid like **** and unless they seriously fuk up the order, they get a 17%+ tip.

It is like a cab driver, etc. Any legit service job involves tipping. If you take an uber, you tip. If you go out to a restaurant, you tip. If you don't like tipping, don't go out to eat u cheap fuks.

Like I said, it's part of going out to a restaurant and you should budget for it. It is not really optional unless the service is ridiculously bad. Some places with a really cheap customer base will actually include the tip in the price. In that case, when there is bad service, you have no option, and the waiter is less motivated to do a great job.

Another **** head move by these restaurants is demanding tip based off the total price including tax.

So say you spend 200$ tax is 12%, so now you have to pay 15% on 224$? **** off.

Anytime I see mandatory tip included on a bill I pay just that. Havent ran into a situation where the service was so bad I shouldnt tip at those places, but have had good service where I would otherwide tip more but dont, since they include it on the bill like *******s.

The service industry is based on tips. Whether or not you believe that is a good thing is up to you. But not tipping only hurts the individual that is making poverty wages, it will not affect the restaurant and certainly won't change the service industry. Like I said, if you don't want to tip, don't go out to eat, or order takeout. But sitting down at a table with a waiter and then not tipping or doing a chit tier tip is just being cheap and is directly hurting another person's income for that day.

I have mixed feels about min wage since different studies and models give different results on optimum minimum wage. But I'll say that waiting tables is not a high skill job, and it is likely to be replaced with automation. Thus, it should NEVER be a highly paid job in a functioning economy.
