Elizabeth Banks Blames Men For Embarrassing 'Charlie's Angels' Flop At the Box Office
In case you haven’t heard, the latest remake of Charlie’s Angels” absolutely bombed at the box office.
As in, bombed hard. The movie, which stars Kristen Stewart and two other actresses you’ve never heard of, raked in a paltry $8.6 million on opening weekend in North America (including Thursday), even less than the modest $12-15 million it was expected to pull.

Yep, according to this, Banks blamed men’s unwillingness to go see action movies that star women in their lead roles for her movie’s embarrassing flop.
“Look, people have to buy tickets to this movie, too. This movie has to make money,” she said. “If this movie doesn’t make money, it reinforces a stereotype in Hollywood that men don’t go see women do action movies.”
“They’ll go and see a comic book movie with Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel because that’s a male genre,” Banks told the Sun. “So even though those are movies about women, they put them in the context of feeding the larger comic book world, so it’s all about, yes, you’re watching a Wonder Woman movie but we’re setting up three other characters or we’re setting up ‘Justice League.’”

“By the way, I’m happy for those characters to have box office success,” Banks added. “But we need more women’s voices supported with money because that’s the power. The power is in the money.”
SHAME ON YOU BOYOS! BIRDS OF PREY, YOU ARE NEXT!

Charlie's Angels/Box office
264.1 million USD
huh.. looks like the original one attracted a lot of attention, weird that they use that as an excuse and not poor production

Kristen Stewart's hairstyle threw me off immediately. I did not give this movie a chance once I saw her appearance.

The Charlie’s Angels movie from 20 years ago was a commercial success. Maybe they should consider why, it was before they started on the latest feminist revolution and they used bigger name actresses.
lol at the new feminist act where they think men are obligated to watch their chit movie, their crap basketball teams ect.
Gee imagine having to actually work to produce a good product instead of throwing together a pile of crap and expecting to get affirmative action points for having vaginas.
Can these feminist come up with an original idea? Or are they just going to do remakes of old movies written by men?

In most cases, people (not just men) don't want to go see action movies with female leads because it is UNREALISTIC. In normal day to day life, and throughout history it hasn't been femininity that's chased down the bad guy, taken down nazis, or stopped the cartel. It's been bad ass dudes. It's just realistic, and when I am watching a movie that the environment/world is meant to appear/feel like normal real life, I expect the story and characters to fit that.
Female superheros work... because it is complete fantasy land, people have suspended what they know to be true, or whats "normal", and accepted that the person(s) you're seeing have superhuman traits that make them capable of greater than normal feats. So nobody has a problem with a female who can fly and has super strength beating up the big scary bad guy, because she should be able to.
People just want a realistic storyline and casting based on the world the movie takes place.
Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.

Neither I nor any other male I know of had a problem with Sigourney Weaver in Aliens or Linda Hamilton in Terminator being badass female lead actresses. Same thing with Uma Thurman in Kill Bill for a more somewhat recent example.

Maybe they should stop doing countless remakes of the same story?

Women even ruined a move that was supposed to be full of women.

Lol @ blaming men. Didn't the original charlies angels consist of 3 women as well? So how can they spew this bs?
It's not like they remade an old movie with an all male cast and replaced it with women only like ghost busters and then used this excuse.
Women...

They’ll go and see a comic book movie with Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel because that’s a male genre
This woman is f ucking stupid. Does she not know how many females are into comic book movies because of strong female characters like Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Black Widow etc. She's just pissed because she sucks as a director and her movie tanked.

It was an objectively terrible movie, and Kristen Stewart didn't even kiss a girl. 0/10
