The Mall reit? Interdasting. They might benefit from lower tier malls going out of business..I took a risk and bought CBL

Amazon is gonna neuter the mall industry. there will be a small increase as the quarantines are lifted, but then back down to rock bottom

Amazon is still buying brick and mortar locations.

You can’t try on shoes online

And SPG does have the nices malls. People are social for the most part. Imagine being locked away forever buying jeans online

SPG is salt pepper garlic. Great base seasoning for cooking.

Interesting pick, it’s so cheap it doesn’t matter. Looking at it, it could be a bust or a high profit since stores are losing money by the pound and no shoppers. Long term

I’d agree on the shoe part but that doesn’t stop females, the main market for clothing and apparel, from buying online. all my female relatives get them delivered through sites like fashionova, etsy. they allow for returns if the clothes don’t fit

they own the cool springs mall in nashville...its booming with customers, not sure why the stock dropped so much but i said fk it and bought a few thousand shares. SPG is also on my radar but I want to wait until q2 earnings come out first

and LOL tanger outlets is at historic lows too...question is ...if all these malls go under, where will stores like Nike and Under Armour sell their products

They do pay decent dividens not that I think they will keep it at this high rate for sharp down it took in coronavirus world. But it will bounce back

bad malls are doomed, good ones who can evolve will survive. i think malls need to have more than just retail and food courts in them. Why not put a movie theatre, arcade, gym, ice rink, ect ...basically they need to get more foot traffic

I already own some SPG. But what makes you think its a buy now at 51?

I do know for a fact that certain retail locations (located in malls) are crazy busy, making massive profits in places where the are reopening.

Picked SPG bc it’s the nicest malls in the US. Last time it was this low in the stock market, it was 2009

ETSY popular online clothing website. share price 85.63 (only sells clothing and apparel)

SPG share price 51.55

it’s obvious that the mall industry is dying. don’t let the small increase in earnings, this summer, fool you. that’s only due to the ending of quarantine restrictions. terrible long term investment

The usual places I check have as a Sell or Hold. Hope you are right.

Stock forecasts are not high enough margin for me. I like higher risk, higher reward stock.

I put 2k on Oncolytics Biotech recently. Bought at $2.

have you seen their dividend? I think they will be stronger after this...People arent going to suddenly buy everything online. Some things you need to be able to see and try before you buy

The biggest problem I see with shopping malls is not the convenience of shopping online but the lack of inventory they have...Can never seem to find something i like in my size

What if shops are forced to limit number of shoppers with social distancing?

Plus lots of people out of work. Not worth the risk for me but hope you get the gainz

Like Vegaslifter says , women are social creatures, and also everytime you walk into a store in the mall, 80% of the Store is catered to women. The mans section is like Althea way in the back.

SPG is the real estate business, not stores. If the stores are gone, better stores will come up

exactly, they own the properties so they can lease the space out as apartments if they wanted to..thats what some malls might do

also, stores like Suitsupply and Indochino are killing it..same with Zara and H&M...i think those will start to fill up more space in the future

Most want to try on clothes/shoes/jewelry and see new cosmetics products in person before they buy. Also a lot of large retailers run massive sales every few months to empty their stock so they have room for more/newer stuff. Which means if you are patient and shop retail locations you can pay 25-65% less. Amazon is generally cheaper if you want instant gratification but if you can wait, Amazon can't compete with that kind of sale ^.

My girlfriend manages a retail location. She's currently doing 10-15k per day doing online orders. She'll be reopening this week and is projecting to making 100K+ per day for at least the first week. When things slow down it'll drop to an average of about 60Kish per day.

Retail is dying, but its not dead yet. I think there is going to be a massive retail boom when stores reopen.

I was at Nordstroms rack yesterday, the line was an hour long, no joke...Got a pair of Brooks running shoes for $20. They were doing a 30% clearance sale on already discounted items...everything was final sale..never seen those prices. You are right though, Amazon/Ebay is a great alternative for MSRP, and some of the boutique/top of the line products that dont ever go on sale. But if you just want something basic, then retail has the best prices.
