So You Want to Buy an AR, Riot Edition...

Somehow, after almost 6 years of smoking AR15 deals, you've arrived here, in the race riots of June 2020, without an AR to defend yourself with. After the unholy Corona Plague, after roughly 2-dozen threads, you somehow still don't own an AR15. It's time to change that.

This isn't a cheap AR, this isn't a "budget build", this is a go-to-war rifle, for when war has come to you.

BCM 16" Lightweight Midlength Carbine with 15" MCMR Rail, log in for price of $1265 + $40 3-day shipping.https://dsgarms.com/ar-rifles-bcm-ca...-750-mcmr15-lw

Aimpoint PRO, $445:https://www.brownells.com/optics-mou...prod54099.aspx

Gen 3 PMags, $12.05/Each:https://lanbosarmory.com/index.php?m...ducts_id=40131

Ammo, IMI Razorcore 77gr 5.56, $384/500:https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2090124928

Substitutes: Herter's 300 ct 55 gr 5.56 Ammo, $99.00:https://www.cabelas.com/product/shoo...12&WT.tsrc=AFF

You could buy iron sights instead of the Aimpoint, but prices on those are so inflated and the Aimpoint is so reliable that you might as well just go for the Optic.

Good Luck out there folks.

So a total of $2300 to get ready for war, still need some shooting but all in, a good price for peace of mind.

So if you were wanting an AR, and wanted a top of the line rifle no expense spared this is one you'd recommend? Don't mind spending more if it means I have a top of the line gun. I don't know much about different manufacturers like BCM.

The mid-tier AR pricing right now is stillcloseto where it was pre-WuFlu, so this just makes the most sense. You get a $1300 AR for $1300 instead of a $500 AR for $1000.

You can come out of it at ~2k + the cost of 5 mags puts you at $2100, and that's quality ammo.

Sweet I saw these two while browsing Wilde Tactical. I also noticed damn near everything is sold out, but I figured it was just that store. Shoulda known.

I remember a quote from Barry on the Iraqveteran8888 channel: "soldiers were losing their limbs to this gun and they didn't know why. It was this round (7.62)"

You can spend a little more money but the gains start drying up.
You can spend about another $400 and get this:https://www.primaryarms.com/geissele...ck-14.5-pinned

That's an even nicer, better appointed gun, but $1750 is a big investment. If you want an out of the box full-gucci rifle, that's the one right now.

Grabbed my first AR two weeks ago...what timing. Entry level, but still.

In the market for a 12 gauge now.

I don't know if this is serious, because no avi 6/2020 join date, but for anyone wondering, for a 5.56 rifle at in-your-face distances it won't matter. The round will tumble in meat and that's what does the damage. The benefit of the heavier bullet is that it will do better if you're shooting for fun, and since you're paying a premium for "cheap" ammo anyways you might as well get the "good" ammo at normal pricing.

same mags (PMAG Gen M3 window) $12.05 here (have to add to cart for that price to show up)

https://lanbosarmory.com/index.php?m...ducts_id=17527

https://lanbosarmory.com/index.php?m...ducts_id=40131

[ ps. these are the best all-around AR-15 magazines there are. There are some other good mags but none better all-around than these. ]

The ammo OP listed is probably the best all-around bulk ammo for combat there is out there, short of paying full price for Black Hills MK262.

It's a clone of this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.56%C...mm_NATO#Mk_262

https://www.shootingtimes.com/editor...1-review/99098

OP has given excellent advice ITT for those who want the best without worry right now.

How does one obtain an FFL and how is that different from just getting a regular state license?

Let's just say an FFL generally requires an interview with the ATF.

Because armor sits in your closet, useless unless there's legitimately a riot going on. It makes no sense for home defense (you'd never have time to put it on).

Rifles are useful for home defense and great to shoot for fun on the range.
