Will coronavirus curb the millenial travel obsession?

one tenth of the worl'd carbon emissions come from tourism, the unhealthy societal pressure to travel and wanderlus is reaching dangerous levels. A big part of the first worlds youth is obssesed with traveling and showing it off in social media. This unhealthy attitude by the priviledge few is causing severe damage in the societies and ecosystems of the developing world and it needs to be controlled.

Will coronavirus change this in the long term? what do you think boyos

No I dont think it will. Too many uninteresting people want to front like they have cool lives online when really they dont do anything or pursue and passion/skill. Getting really good at something a d then posting can get you "internet points" but that takes a lot of work a d time. Travelling can donthe same and all you got to do is spend money and take photos.

Its kind of a cop out for a hobby too. You do it for 2 weeks every year and then you can list it on your tinder profile to seem interesting.

I'll be traveling as soon as my organization allows it again. I'm sure it'll make lots of bitch-made millennials think twice though.

Nope. Everyone I know is lusting to start flying again. It's not as if we shut down international borders but have plenty at home to keep us occupied whereby people will have developed a personality in the interim.

I love travel, but I also speak multiple languages and enjoy hiking moreso than just wining/dining in a city, so I'm not a basic ass millennial that just wants to do it for the pics. I too can't wait to start macking on Latinas in the Patagonias once the Karens lose the virus war and we can start living our lives again.

Yes, I have recorded a statistically significant uptick in lapdog sales. This means that travel will need to be put on the afterburner unless females wanna abandon their little Pomeranians.

Corona virus isnt curbing their travel plans, its the boomer's covid fear that is limiting travel for everyone else. Muh travel bans, muh quarentines.

Also, carbon emissions? Didnt uou hear bro, thats last year's doom tale, this year its asymptomatic viruses.

And the rich 1% and overseas shipping account for more carbon emissions than your average wagecel.

Travelling has always been popular. It's just easier and cheaper to arrange these days. LMFAO at not visiting other countries.

Plaza de Armas in most cities of Peru have a lot of hot white girls. I bet they will be devoid of them for the forseeable future.

I met a British guy in Peru last year. He was in his 60s, and we talked a lot(nh). He said traveling was always popular even when he was in his 20s. Always had a lot of backpackers then. It is just that now, with social media, they are magnified.

Anyway, already have my plane tickets for Europe this Januay-February.

No they will just travel and then put on a mask for the pic they take at each location to put on IG, then take it off once the pic is over. Basically a "look at me I am traveling and being safe at the same time" type of sham.

I'd take vacations right now, if there was **** to do at the places I want to go. Half the chit is closed down and there are no sporting events. It's pretty pointless.

lol at jealous at travelers ITT. World traveling is awesome, and is better to reflect on than almost any other purchase I've made.

Agree that the wanderlust, take pics for the gram, etc. is a bit cornball. But the vast majority of people dont have that adventure bone in their body. Give me someone willing to travel to a new country any day of the week.

Those that would spend their week vacation sitting on a beach and doing nothing are the most pathetic

As soon as Americans can freely go to other countries, I'll be traveling the next week. I'm sure some of the more closed-minded millennials will go to places like Hawaii instead, but most will still go everywhere. I have a trip to Brazil scheduled for December, and I'm going to try to sneak in another international trip before then as well.

Yes, travel is kind of a substitute for having a personality for some of us successful workaholic types. But it's such a great way to refresh mental health and have a great time. Rarely do I ever hear someone come back from a good trip angry that they did it.

Capitalism sits at the core of the problem, srs and I'm not trolling this time. Hyper consumerism has transormed how we see ourselves and the world hence the constant presence to be a "better version" of ourselved and to keep reinventing our persona etc.

Massive tourism is also extremley bad for the places it "develops" I've seen it countless time across all latin america. When a destination gets popular an irreversible environmental damage follows, as well as crime and violence because first world travelers pretty much always demand drugs when visiting south america they want cheap ******* and other drugs. So a new "hotspot" quickly turns violent because rival cartels fight to supply the rising demand. Indigenous people are kicked off their natural lands so resorts can be developed etc.

It's horrible. Tourism supposedly brings development but in the end natives where better off living their rural lives at least they have dignity and health instead of just being a slave scrubbing toilets in a resort and later getting phucked up by the arrivign cartels, it's a shame.

10% of the worlds pollution comes from basic ass first world millenials hopping from one place to another just to take selfies... that doesn't sound like a good deal to me. It's only a tine part of the worlds population wich is responsible for all this ecological damage

I'm not against traveling just to make that clear. I've traveled a lot myself. I'm just saying that the massive tourism industry is really harmful and 99% of travelers are just basic idiots devoid of a personality looking to boost their IG content. It's pathetic really.

Do we really need retards taking 4-6 transatlantic trips every year?

No chance. Travelcelling is too good of an opportunity to virtue signal how worldly you are. Some retards use as a shortcut to having an actual interesting hobby or being an interesting person in general. Nothing wrong with traveling its just most of the people I see doing it now are the people I know IRL who are devoid of any personality. Basically NPCs

Theresa difference between traveling and experiencing new cultures to just hop on a plane to travel to the next "cool hotspot" just to take selfies of your ass while acquiring crippling debt.

brb omg let me take a selfie at this trendy pool in Bali/mykonos/ibiza/tulum that looks exactly the same as the one in Bali/mykonos/ibiza/tulum while eating the exact same food as in Bali/mykonos/ibiza/tulum. Omg acai bowls how original hehe!

And theres also the added pest of chinese tourists that travel in packs armed with countless selfie sticks screaming and cramping everyplace it's sometimes like a monthy python joke. A few years ago I did a long roadtrip across the US camping at various national parks (they where all beautiful the nature is hands down the best thing in the US)
And everyhwere i phucking went out of nowhere a bus packed with chinese tourists would stop next to me and ruin the moment. brb majestic canyon in the middle of nowhere with a beutifil view lets stop to aprreciate it and while you're enjoying it a phucking chinese bus stops next to you unpacking dozens of loud retards armed with selfie sticks, what an annoyance.

I wish people would revel in our National Parks or going to other states and learning about our country rather than trying to "find yourself" in another country.

I think there's merit to travel, especially internationally. There's some folks that do it obsessively.

My girlfriend likes to travel which when I first met her I was wondering if she just did it for thrill seeking, narcissism, etc. Truth of the matter is she isn't into social media, she's fluent in Spanish and works in international areas. I went to Tulum with her this year and she actually reads up on the history of stuff. We checked out the cenotes and Mayan ruins, etc. She went to Croatia/Greece last year when first started dating. Same thing.

I don't really respect the types that dump money into traveling and don't have their own house in order. It makes me think they are running away from something.

This lockdown thing is forcing people to develop new hobbies and become more introspective as a people from what I've seen or at least what I hope for.

when you call everyone a travelcel and group them all together. that's like saying all black men or white men are bad. some are, but get this, some aren't too
I was talking more about mass tourism in general. Basic kunts traveling en masse from one hotspot to another devouring it in their way. Mostly the crowd that hops from one beach to another to take selfies at the premandated cool spot and eating at the premandated cool spot etc. I'm not refering to people who have interests in nature/art/archeology as usualy they're not as destructive as the npc's who go to ibiza/mykonos/bali/tulum to take ego selfies

Agreed the national park system is the jewel of the US. The way the parks are preserved and run is amazing not to mention the variety of ecosystems in them. I thinked I've visited more of them that the avg. american and that's a shame. The sad thing is that mass tourism kills places. For example Tulum, that whole area of mexico was incredibly peaceful and safe 10+ years ago, now because the increased amount of tourists also demmand more drugs the whole area has turned into a violent warzone with rampant ecological devastation to meet the demand of the incoming tourists, it's a shame really.

I've got some bad news brother. The red flags started when you said she likes to travel but isn't into social media. Let's be real here... Women only travel to take pics to show off. Then you said Croatia. There is only one reason a woman would go to Croatia and that is for that BBC (Big Balkan Cok)

From my experience having lived in touristic places most of my life contrary to that belief, most people hook up with people close to their own world so to say, for example new yorkers hooking up with new yorkers mostly, french people with other french tourists, etc. Its like an extension of their tinder in a way. I'm generalizing of course but that seems to be the norm.
