Applied 50 SPF and still got roasted WTF

I applied myself with a 50 SPF spray from head to toe and got roasted and red.

I went to the beach for a coast walk and traveled about 8miles total and swam a few times. I was there from 9:30 to 12:45.

Should I just apply it multiple times? What in the absolute fudge.

You need to follow the application method and quantity on the bottle. Most low-quality ones will need a quarter bottle for your body, leaving your skin slightly white/blueish to get the protection.
The amount you need to put on is seriously absurd. Best to cover up and only use it on the exposed spots.

Should be reapplied every 2 hours. Also, doesnt mean you are totally protected from being burned. It mostly protects you from harmful rays that can cause cancer.

Most bottles say you should still not be under the sun for too long.
