Yeah, it's definitely "racist" in the classical sense of the word. However, just like how black people can make jokes at the expense of black people, can't white people also do the same? I mean, it's okay for Dave Chappelle to make jokes about black stereotypes for comedy, can Henry Rollins not create broad stereotypes about his own race? Unfortunately, the way Henry Rollins did it does come off as a bit self-hating, which is a bit different.

And it's also "wrong", in that the most detrimental thing to progress is not specifically "white men" but "the fact that people don't want to have real dialogues with each other", but that isn't as catchy.

You're right; it's not a "joke" it's a statement.

Freedom of speech is such that all opinions are allowed to be shared regardless of how they were formed. This is for the better or worse.

I would say that, if we're going to practice what we preach we shouldn't spend too much time being outraged over something like this.

Judaism is a religion and Jewish people are an ethnic group. It's not one or the other. You can be ethnically Jewish and also atheist. I don't think this is a controversial fact and it's borne out by DNA studies.

I think that you might have it backwards, because I was always to the impression that Judaism was what is considered an ethnic religion in that it is typically associated with specific ethnicities... Not that it is an ethnicity itself.

The Jewish people are ethnoreligious which is it's own interesting knot to tangle. But essentially, that means that Jewish people can trace ancestry in countries that are typically regarded as "white" ethnicity and that they are often commonly aligned by religion and not race. Theoretically, this is just a fancy way of presenting what I'd originally presented before though...

Jewish people can be white. However, not all Jewish people could be considered white in that case.

It's far easier to discuss religion and race separately in this conversation due to the nuances and the fact that they are mostly irrespective of each other.

I wonder if talking like that is emotionally, spiritually, and mentally fulfilling for you... Or if it just perpetuates whatever negativity floats around in your head.
