Flip a coin for a job...
Really having a tough time deciding what Job to go take back home when we move. I have two options, both back in the car buisness.
1st option.
Service Manager of a Ford/CDJR dealership.
Pay
5k a month salary with a commission.
As a sign on "bonus" first 3 months commission promised at 2k so 7k a month for the first 3 months then 5k plus commission.
Pros
5 minutes from house
Hometown style and laid back
Friends with the Owner
Cons
6 days a week
Dealership has a rocky history will be challenging to get it built back up
Future also looks rocky unless this Covid straightens out. Not thinking it will close, but could downsize and cut back drastically.
2nd Option
Parts Manager for a Ford only Dealership
Pay is starting 5500 per month..will go up after 6 months.
No commission just straight pay.
Pros
Very very stable dealership..top 10 in the nation. Could make a career here.
5 day a week work week with 1 Saturday every 10 or so weeks.
Vacations, Insurance
Cons
45 minute drive

What kind of idiot would pay a parts manager for a car dealership that much. Parts managers around here make 35-50K with tons of experience.

Parts manager is much easier and the pay for that work is really good compared to a lot of dealerships, at least around where I'm at.

A 45 minute commute each way is going to add up over time. You might be working 5 days per week at the far drive job. But you'll likely spend the same amount of hours either at work or commuting to/from work each day. Also add in fuel, wear and tear on car, etc.
Working 6 day's per week sucks. But working 6 days per week 5 minutes from home might be better then spending 1.5-2 hour commuting per day. You could literally drive home to eat lunch, bang the wife at lunch, take a poop, etc.

Like the sound of #1
The drive would suck. Especially if the weather is chit.
45 min. each way, 1.5 hours total driving each day
X5 days 7.5 hours of driving a week.
