Sunday Morning Positivity(positive crew unite)

Taken from a ******** post

Negativity is really popular on social media these days. Just like our system of customer service in America, it seems the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I know it may feel like a new craze of hate because it’s so excruciatingly visible, but the truth is we are (naturally) wired for the negative. If a customer has a good experience at your shop, they will tell 2-3 people. If a customer has a bad experience they will tell between 8-20 people. It’s just the way we are. So when you see something hateful, just know that that person has taken the path of least resistance. There’s not really any need to judge it, they’re going through their own thing their own way. Leave it be. However, it is your responsibility to contribute to the positivity media by saying something kind.

I encourage you not to be afraid of posting kindness or satisfaction for fear that you are alone. Deep down, we all want to be positive, we all want to feel better about our contribution to the world. Can you take the risk to be an openly satisfied customer? Can you find things to be grateful for, no matter how small?

I am grateful for my dad. You probably don’t think about this, but I have had to share him with all of you my entire life. I knew when I was a small little person that my dad wanted to do the most good for the most amount of people and that meant that we had to make some sacrifices.

If you know him personally, that means he’s helped you in some way whether that’s through advice, kindness, an introduction, or by just lending his ear to you even for a moment.

I’ve met a lot of political people throughout my life. I have never seen someone as generous and kind as Henry McMaster. I have never seen someone navigate their responsibilities with the grace he does. He’s seriously some kind of Grace Jedi Knight, I really don’t know how he does it. He’s never angry, he never gets shaken, he’s never mean. In my experience, it’s usually not like that. People in politics tend to get stuck with their ego using it as a shield, and that’s understandable too. Living a life in politics where you are at the mercy of the public day in and day out is terribly hard. Can you imagine being scrutinized on every action you make all day long? Next time you pick up your toothbrush imagine someone texting you saying ‘you did it wrong’ and then someone else yells through the window that ‘you’re not being tough enough.’

Can we be radical together? Can we try to produce more positivity than negativity for one day?

We are losing our appetite for grace. We are losing our appetite for kindness, and I think it’s crushing our spirit.

The more hate we produce, the bigger our separation from others. The bigger that schism grows, the more fearful we become. Acting out of fear feels terrible - it is biologically meant to, it’s a signal that we don’t have much time and we’d better act fast. When we act out of fear we have very short spurts of adrenaline to get us (hopefully) out of danger. Is this the moment you type your negative essay on FB about someone you hate or disapprove of? Is there a better way to use that energy?

I invite you to be kind. To yourself, to your friends, to those you don’t understand. Can you see how it feels to write a positive review of your life instead of focusing on the things you wish were different? Can you invite grace into your day?

Grace doesn’t react. Grace responds.
Grace doesn’t yell. Grace speaks.

We all have the capacity for grace, and through times like these, it may be the only thing that can calm our nerves.

I’m writing a gratitude post about my dad because I love him with my whole heart. I’m writing about my dad because he is doing an amazing job as our Governor and I’m so incredibly proud of him. I watch him work all day every day for all of us and he won’t slow down now. I am 30 and am tired by 3pm, he is over 70 and spends every waking hour focused on duties to make our state better.

I’m not saying you have to agree with everything he does, I’m certainly not saying you have to be a republican in order to feel part of the story. I’m asking you to invite grace into your heart so that you can remember that you ARE part of the story, and have been all along.

I am suggesting that by remembering your capacity for grace you can be a champion for solution.

We are all in this together.

When you write a gratitude post about your dad, you probably get likes from your family members and a few nice comments from friends. The cost of my gratitude post is that someone out there will feel entitled to tell me their personal story of disapproval for a man they don’t know. However, I am a Grace Jedi Knight in training, and I know that any pain not transmuted is transmitted, and I don’t accept that charge. Instead, I offer love in return.

You can do it too!

Being positive in the negative sea we’re drowning in is a radical act. I invite you to be radically kind with me today.

Let’s grow more kindness on the internet, together.

Love yourself, because most people wont and you shouldn't expect them to.

All you need is your own love.
