Doesn't this basically equate to an extension of the riots/protests and the shut down of the economy especially small businesses?

Not fair for nurses and other people to make the same or less for actually working. Moment unemployment is removed these riots will stop, as a matter of fact anyone that gets arrested during the "peaceful" protests should have their benefits removed.
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

I guess the 70% of previous income was too much common sense to ask for. Imagine doubling or tripling your previous salary for not working. I just dont get it. It's not fair.

Honestly I get it tho. Millions of people out of work. Places operating at half capacity or a quarter capacity, some places not even open. Retail is chitting the bed. Projects on hold everywhere. Fukking sucks, not very good environment to go out and get a job....
In reality, we need to take stock of what the actual problem with coronavirus is and address that. California just had it's first child die. It's first. Pre-existing conditions. Nursing homes account for like half the deaths. The "at risk" is mostly old people. Politicians need to put 2 and 2 together here, this is not killing the people who drive the economy, but this crap IS killing the economy. "At risk" people need to stay home. If that means we pay for it, so be it. UBI for anyone 60 or older, diabetic, heart conditions, cancer patients, and medically obese till this chit is over. I don't give a chit. Open this economy up. Long term damage is being done here that is going to cripple us for years.

We are at a point where we know who the at risk group is and we need to tailor the response.
