Valet Tipping

Ok brahs when you valet a car are you expected to tip on pickup or both pickup and drop off? I’ve always done pickup but the guy looked confused when I didn’t tip on drop off today. He saw me tip the pickup this morning because he called it in and someone else brought it out. I would assume they pool tips or alternate who gets the car otherwise that guy got screwed if all he does is drop them off all day and never brings them back out.

I just don’t want to be that guy is all.

Tip on pick up if the fee is reasonable

If it’s $10+ for the valet alone, I’m not tipping at all

Tip on pickup.

Usually $5 is the standard. This is in Oklahoma, so may be more where you are at. Depends if they are hustling or not. The place I go that I use the service, they run to get your car.

I’ve been doing up to $5 on pickup. I also go in n out a few times and do it each time. The fee is like $20 as well and the lot is right next to drop off so I can’t really justify more than that.

But thanks everyone. Reps on rc

I'd say tip them about $3.50.
Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way but, in 20 years if you're still here postin' in hhhnnnggg threads, beggin' for mod reps, and braggin' about whales you harpooned from POF, I'll f'in kill ya. That's not a threat, that's a fact, I'll f'in kill ya. You got somethin' none of us have, and you don't owe it to yourself man, you owe it to me. Cuz tomorrow I'm gonna wake up and I'll be red, and I'll still be a socially awkward/FA. And that's all right.

The setting I use it for is light business socializing. Lots of socializing happens while waiting for vehicles.

Ah Valet the good old days....I'll tell you the breakdown from my experience. I worked valet for about a year at a Ritz-Carlton almost 10 years ago. Obviously, a luxury hotel, and it was pretty busy especially during the summer, and fall. The way our system worked is we had a lock box with a hole in it where you would slide the money into the hole after you got tipped.

We would pool tips so it didn't matter who would get the car although we had to run to the parking lot to retrieve cars, but this is where you would weed out the lazy asses there was one dude I worked with who didn't do chit, and when it would get super busy he would pretend he would have to use the bathroom. Eventually, most people caught on, and asked not to be on the schedule with him.

Anyways, loved that job it was fun while it lasted lots of great people watching...saw some celebrities. Lol you would see a bunch of hot escorts too. To answer your question you tip at pickup it would mostly be $2 to $3 and $5 at most. This was a really busy hotel though so you could easily make $100-200 in tips if you and your co workers hustled the whole shift and the tips split between like 8 people.

I don't let anyone drive my truck so I pull in and park my truck in the Valet reserved spots, say "thanks brah" as I walk by them and go about my business.

Haha nope since you were tipping each way lol so $2 still good. At the Ritz I worked around $3-$4 was the norm just at pick up.

LOL the worst though was some people would try and tip us 50 cents...had a guy say how he didn't have any cash on him, and tipped me 25 cents. I berstared him, took it and threw it when he pulled off lol.

Valet is essentially a tool beta males use on a date to try and raise their status.

The beta male logic is "if I valet park my car and tip well, my date will think I have lots money which will increase my chances of getting laid"

Betas always use this type of logic to try and compensate for their inferior genetics

sometimes there's no easy parking lot nearby and valet parking just makes it so much easier. and sometimes valet parking is your only option. now though, with Uber, i rarely drive anymore.
