Was scrambled porn always a deliberate gateway drug to porn for kids? Indoctrination
If you think about it the way it was setup, literally any man or child who simply did something common; ie simply scanned through the unprogrammed channels and if you click UP on your channels button you will inevitably one day
1. Hear the audio of supposedly “inaccessible” adult content
2. See a glimpse of a titty or something sexual
So on a scale of millions of people, in this way porn started to be a tantalizing tease and sales pitch that was reaching even us as kids.
This was all under the guise of “that’s how the technology is for scrambling” but if you really think about it was a bs cover up for a shady sales pitch into porn. The tech simply wasn’t good enough. But they still WILLINGLY allowed it to be that way where the scrambling was just a caveat maybe the lawyers got away with but in reality the TV networks benefited from soft selling a whole generation to be baited into a life of pornography which they benefitted from selling unlocks to those channels and growing the porn industry.
Imagine today if you had someone preview porn to your underage child by giving them access to just the audio and moans of a porn and the rest under a pay wall. Would that not be an insane and violating tease for a young mind? Even the audio and a flash or preview of boob would be enough to sell them on it. Would be insane.
But somehow the scrambled porn excuse was OK to us.
In hindsight the networks knew what they were doing and violated us with the way cable TV was setup. If they didn’t have the ability to properly and fully block a channel the gov and sensors should have snipped their cable until they found a way to not expose young children to that filth.
In the past cable was always a loose and shady practice where cable guys were known for hooking you up sometimes and it was so loose and out of control.
We are lifelong victims of those shady practices by the media companies trying to get us to be addicted to, fascinated and intrigued by dirty channels with partial access to all including children and people who didn’t even sign up for the channels.

I never had any good scrambles. maybe a titty or two on occasion on some softcore channel.
did have woods porn though. finding a stash of porn in some woods somewhere was always a thing somehow.

If I recalled, the picture was scambled but there was audio?
If you had a "black box", the channel would be unscambrabled.

Puberty and access to internet alone would have driven all men to watch porn regardless of cable or not
