Is Kansas City possibly the GOAT city?
Don't have a dog in the race but just came back from Chicago and was mind-fukked by how fukking cramped it is. Dirty, smelly, and driving is a pain in the azz. LOL at having to rent a tiny box on a skyscraper just to get away from the constant noise and hustle bustle. Came back to Kansas City and just felt like I could breathe again. Sure, KC might not have the same attractions and isn't exactly a tourist hotspot, but houses are <$200k (just LOL @ Californians and East-Coastians).
All in all, I would say that a mid-sized city easily beats a large city anyday. Large cities are fun to visit, but for living? I'll take a medium-sized city anyday.

Economy-wise? Sprint just got eaten up by T-Mobile which is going to cause some uncertainty for sure. Real estate seems pretty alright although a lot of my friends are convinced it's gonna boom. We have Garmin, H&R Block, Hallmark, and some other random companies.
Liberals? Eh. The city is fairly liberal, but drive 30 minutes anywhere and you're in red territory. Not gonna see confederate flags anywhere though. Kansas actually has a pretty anti-Southern history. Don't know about them Missouri boys.

I'd imagine some of these mid-tier cities will likely come out ahead over the next decade. I have heard good things about Kansas City.
