Always a scam if you are half competent. Just do some math, and read the words of the agreement. They wouldnt sell it at a loss. If you are lazy its a great investment.

Imo, its not worth it. I havent really looked into it so take with a grain of salt. Because under 100k, most major work, is covered by the warranty. The cost of the extended warranty should be used for basic maintenance, and when basic maintenance is done, risk of any major work is cut down dramatically.

As other said the math is like guaranteeing you’ll pay for one major repair so you pay a ton at mileage it’s unlikely anything will go wrong. They’ll probably fight to get out of covering as much as they can also. But if I didn’t have a good mechanic that I trust, I would consider it more strongly, because without knowing your mechanic well and especially going to dealer you can get ripped off

Yup, finding a good mechanic is a must. Always look for ASE certified. It wont always mean youll save more then going to a dealer though.

mine saved me a bunch of money getting repairs to my AC. Because of the warranty, I only had to pay the copay, which was $100 to have a pump replaced.

My Toyota is old enough to drink and has 280k miles. Runs fine. Keep up with maintenance and you’re gtg

On my last 2 Mercedes the extended warranties both paid from themselves. But that’s the official Mercedes dealer warranty not some third party bs from a smaller dealership. Those are all scams.

In the case of your Toyota I wouldn’t really worry about buying the warranty.
