New TV - 55" OLED or 65" standard LED?

We're giving my brother our 55" Vizio, which is a few years old and was good for it's age. For a new TV, I'm debating getting another 55" and springing for OLED or moving to a 65" standard LED. Here are the two contenders:

LG 55CX
https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-oled55cxpua-oled-4k-tv

Sony X900H
https://www.sony.com/electronics/tel...delPrices=true

I lean toward the LG 55" OLED for the following reasons:

- OLED picture seems noticeably better
- We only sit 8-10' away
- Current 55" seems big enough

My wife thinks bigger might be better and leans towards the 65" but she's left the decision up to me. Budget is under $2k, preferably in the $1,500 ballpark. I don't want to spend $2.5k on a 65" OLED.

What would you get?

I wouldn't get a non-OLED TV anymore tbh, might even get a CX for my next gaming monitor

There's no such thing as "future proof" but it does seem a little stupid to buy old tech when you're upgrading.

OLED is way better. that size wont make a big difference but the quality will be. regardless what they show in store. they use pictures/frames that favor tvs that sell bad. i worked at best buy in college lol

id get OLED. youll notice difference when you watch a movie like those marvel movies or like some cybernetic chit. i remember when i first got OLED and watched a movie i could notice the water droplets and i was amazed

id take OLED over 20 inches.

I sit 10.5 feet away and find with some movies being in a 21:9 aspect ratio , that you need the extra size to compensate.
Each to his own of course , but I did buy an LG Oled in a 55” , and took it back and traded it in the next day for their 65” Oled .
Would go 77” if I had the cash

honestly op you should just wait a month for black friday. you can probably get ^ this for same price.

you dont have to wait in line and stuff thats for those crappy 45 inch led tvs for $200 that everyone wants. not many are gonna be dropping 2k so you can find a good deal and just pick it up

This is definitely the route I would go, get a 65" OLED and call it done for the next decade

I have a CX as my gaming/work screen - the only problem is you need a 3080ti to run it at 4k 120hz with full color

it looks ass with the HDMI 2.0 and color reduction @ 120hz currently

OP always get the biggest TV you can afford

yup. this is what i tell people - nobody ever gets the TV home and says - damn! i wish i would've gone smaller. it's always the other way around. and i keep my TVs for 10+ years - so spend a little more and get exactly what you want! go big or go home!!!

yeah the 48" with an asus proart 27" in portrait mode next to it as a 2nd monitor for browser windows. The only issue I have with the CX is the same problem all OLEDs have in that they're not superbright. I tried messing with all the settings but if I jack up the brightness witht henvida control panel then I lose some of the black levels which is the whole point.

I'm getting a 3080ti the day it comes out so I can game at 120hz tho lol

Definitely go for the 55" OLED. I right now got a 55" 4K and a 70" 1080p and the difference in size isn't that big of a deal while the difference in picture quality is a much bigger deal.
