Probably because you cant emulate a N64 as good as other consoles, so to play the game and get full enjoyment you would need to buy the legit console.

n64 was the biggest leap in graphics over the previous generation we ever will have likely other than maybe the leap from tvs/vr headsets to full holograms in your room. Maybe even when they get past all physical world representation and just bypass your eyes and stream the visuals directly into your brain ala a dream
