That's not just a boomer thing, I'm a millennial and I remember having to use those.
Bodybuilding is a lifetime journey, anytime spent not bulking or cutting is a waste of time.

i mean...where else are you supposed to keep them? If you hang them around your neck, then the strap can snap and you lose it without knowing or it can whack up against something and break. In your butt it stays snuggly in place plus you get to work on your iso/static glute contractions
