Statistically they're more dangerous than other breeds, but if you have a pet pit bull there's a 95% chance it is going to be completely fine towards you as the owner. The problem with them is they tend to be aggressive towards other animals (think dog parks - big problem) and the males can sometimes have dominance issues if you don't cut their balls off or check their behavior from a very young age. Female pits are loyal af. Some of the sweetest dogs I've ever met have been sheltered female pits that were abused. Once they find a human they can trust, they do anything for your affection.

Mine I took to my boys and he has a Frenchie that kept attacking him and has trash social skills and he would just try to ignore her and she went in once where he slung his head around and threw her ass back and almost ****ed her up. I think it's 2 main factors:

1. Absolute trash owners who want a savage dog, meaning they will probably create one regardless of breed.

2. When they do attack, they do tremendous damage. Most people have been bitten by a dog at least once in their life and it wasn't serious. If a pitbull bites you, it can tear chunks off you and main you for life. A woman or a child may well be mauled to death, even a fully grown man is in serious danger.

I suspect that they may be more prone to attacking but the above factors are the big ones IMO.
