How much can overhead press for 1 rep?
How much can overhead press for 1 rep?
Do you think overhead barbell presses are more effective than seated dumbbell shoulder presses for increasing shoulder width?

Seated dumbell presses take away leg drive so they are superior.
However barbell OHP is goat as well.
I have never tested my max but pr is 135x8 @155lbs bw 5'10" on barbell ohp.
Dumbell press i think max is 75lbs x 2.

What i meant is that is easier to cheat and use compensatory strenght on standing OHP than othet variations like seated OHP.

There was a time on my shoulders were pretty strong overhead. I push pressed 300 or 315.
I did a strict overhead press once with 235.
Right now we pretty much only do seated military, is 185 for 3x10 and 175+60 lb chain x2 reps.

Are you a professional powerlifter? Do you get paid to lift these crazy amounts of weight? What drives you to lift so heavy, just curious. Respect the hustle

Also you take away the need for core stability while seated that you donโt get standing. So thatโs something to consider.

No idea what my 1RM is on strict press. Recently did 135x6 as a working set (zero leg drive).
I want to get up to at least a 225lb push-press. Right now I'm just doing sets of 8 with 155lb and working my way up, still need to get my form a bit better. I waste a lot of energy by the middle of my set by losing my tightness and balance.

I haven't tested a 1rm but my OHP (really all my pressing) is weak af. I've been doing a 3x3 at 150 followed by 5x5@ 135. I've done that once a week for the past couple weeks and it's gotten fairly easy so I'll add more weight this week. If I had to guess, I'd put my 1rm at 180lbs at a body weight of ~210lbs.

Bw: 100ish

I hit 185 about 2 months ago at 49 years old and 200lbs. I was so pumped. I wanted that weight forever. Weird thing is that I lifetime PR on it from doing 24kg and 32kg kettlebell press during lockdown.
