Why was the Virgin Mary a Virgin?

And how long were her and Joseph Married prior to her conception?


A strong reoccurring theme of the Bible is simply to **** and make babies. I’m not familiar with any biblical reference concerning “consummating the marriage”, but I’m gonna look.

Even if it wasn’t compelled as part of the marriage, eventually they would have done it. So why didn’t they?


Have any of you asked this question before to a religious leader or anything?

Mary was a virgin when she conceived, that doesn't mean she was a virgin forever, and they consummated the marriage after the birth of Jesus.
Joseph was told in a dream that the child was the son of God and would save the world. This is why he took Mary as his wife, she wasn't the one who convinced him.
They weren't married when Mary conceived, but they did intend to be married, and did so after Joseph was told by God that he should take Mary as his wife.

They were not married when she conceived her first child. The best way to think of it is that they were engaged.

They did consummate the marriage after Jesus was born.

Literally this. An entire religion with hundreds of millions of people was built on some sloot getting railed and being too afraid to tell her husband. Instead she said it must he a miracle and it kinda just snowballed.

Im a Jew, that is the proper translation. What you stated is incorrect and made up fairly recently (last century) by atheistic/reform Jews and liberal Christian theologians. Similar to how they have started saying that Torah does not mean “Law” but rather “instruction.”

A young women/girl was a virgin in not only hebrew culture, Israelite/Judean culture, but Semitic culture in general. if she was not, then she was a wife or a whore in the eyes of society. The projecting back with feminist/leftist notions is really disturbing to me but it is happening, and has been happening.
