Do Criminals in Liberal Cities No Longer Fear Consequences?
Another poster made a thread about a shockingly similar situation in South Florida recently.
When downtown Chicago was looted and burned again a few weeks ago it was discovered a vast majority of those arrested were also arrested during the first lootings and riots but same Prosecutor that let Jussie Smolett off dropped all charges and let them go... so they did it again.
Then you've got this:
Two of the three alleged were on probation with GPS monitors by Cook County (County Chicago is in that is notorious for going easy on criminals). Well, they broke into a few homes in a wealthy suburb and different county. Tried to rape one of teenage daughter, shot the dad when he fought back, and sexually assaulted a young girl.
Thankfully they were caught and the suburban county is going in dry on charges and they'll spend their life behind bars most likely. In the Chicago area, especially Cook County, criminals no longer fear police or the courts.

The difference is, many end up getting charges dropped or probation.
If you could loot a Rolex or Guicci store and get away with tens of thousands in merch and there's a 10% chance you even get caught, and if you do get caught, a 10% chance you actually catch that felony charge, is the local government not complicit in building a crime wave?

Yes...Ain't no normal white people going downtown right now.
I know people that work in downtown Minneapolis that are going to just keep doing the remote thing even after Covid now due to the defunding BS. There is absolutely no reason for them to risk the safety of their workers or for them to even have an office there anymore if they are going to get trashed over and over.

See a lot of threads about NYC experiencing wealth flight and politicians scrambling to prevent it.
Chicago/IL City and state has been leading the charge in number of people moving out, nationally.
I personally know several co workers already agreeing to not renew leases or putting their condos up for sale to move to the suburbs because of crime and fear of plummeting property values. All across the city, especially with 6 figure income folks who can work remotely most of the time, they're getting out. Detroit 2.0 here we come.
With the recent asinine behavior people with means (of all races) are wanting out. Businesses.are choosing not to reopen after looting, people are being attacked and robbed in broad daylight in some of the nicest areas. I'm sure you all saw the vid of the 85 year old woman being attacked, beaten, and robbed by a peaceful protester on the Magnificent Mile.
Magnificent Mile used to be a main tourist attraction due to beautiful buildings, high end stores, next to beaches, etc... Now it's covered in boards with cops every 20 feet and homeless and protesters everywhere.
Just a sad state of affairs.

Live downtown.
The Target and Bestbuy and Liquor stores like a stone's throw.away from me were looted. And protests constantly pop up closing down roads. Very annoying but thankfully no safety issues... yet.
Though, a lot of people coming to loot and crap come from the gang-ridden south and west sides into our downtown nicer communities. This sparks colors/gang wars when they see each other and we've had 2 deadly shootings within the last 2 months within 1/4 mile from our $500k condo. Just typing that ridiculousness out makes me sick to my stomach.
That being said, lease ends in April and for the first time almost 15 years of city living I am looking to move to the most conservative county surrounding Chicago.

I actually prefer to carry my M&P Shield because it tucks more easily than my Glock. If I'm that worried I make room for my extended mag Sig. Bulky but shoots like an arrow with 21 rounds.
Lived in Chicago almost 15 years. Crime is encroaching upon areas it never used to... it used to be simple theft and a couple shootings a year. Now it's 3 in 7 weeks, two of which were kids, two of which were fatal. Things have changed recently... not for the better.
I have a family I care about and idiots like you that espouse claims of "sorry if the big city is too scary, stop being a b!tch" are just as much a part of the problem. Good neighborhoods are becoming vulnerable and chalking that up to "oh that's city life, should be tougher" is a cuck excuse.

A more appropriate term would be concerned. I love this city. It's my home. But I'm watching it be slowly but surely (and more recently very quickly) lose it's grip on law and order. Previously the dems ruined it with garbage fiscal policy but at least the violence stayed out of the populated areas. Areas that were once low violent crime just 2 years ago are seeing multiple shootings a month. Homicide clearance rates are at all time low. Crime, both violent and non violent are on the rise in already crime-ridden areas but also now in what uses to be heavily policed and safe areas.
And now the criminals are feeling emboldened enough by lax policy and prosecution that they're taking their garbage to nice suburbs with families.
We're already seeing this in other major liberal cities, but this is a litmus test for how it can and will spill over into safe communities.
