Victim mentality & Peoples inability to help themselves is mind-blowing...
It is unreal how many people complain and whine about their situation... yet never do the first thing about it. I haven't figured out if it is a unwillingness issue (deep psychological issue), or a fault of our education system/society for not teaching people the process of fixing their problems.
So many people bitch about money, about their job, about how they want to do this ... or that one day. Then a year later... two years... five... a decade... nothing really has changed. I don't know a single person that has sat down in their personal time, in a quiet room, and put thoughts to paper. Like a legit, "I want to be at point A in a year... and I have to do x,y,z to get there."
Damn near every person has some excuse about time, other obligations, not smart enough, etc. That last excuse drives me nuts. It's the internet age... and you're saying you're not smart enough or don't know how to do something? Get the fk out of here.
I feel like the whining and bitching that occurs is a weird psychological trick that convinces them that they're doing something by talking about it. In reality, all it seems to be is procrastination.
I honestly don't know what to do with these people. I want to help (friends/family/etc)... but I don't want to waste my time and just listen to someone whining. Should i just be very blatant and direct like David Goggins and tell them to stop bitching and start doing?
I looked up some stuff on top performing athletes the other day. I was curious about the level of effort put in by people like Michael Phelps, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan. Phelps ... spent five years straight (1,800 consecutive days) training without a single day off. Not even for his birthday or christmas. It's damn humbling... because I don't know a single person including myself that has scratched even the start line of that level of commitment to success.
