friendly reminder to start prepping food and water if you haven't already

War.

Food shortages.

Natural disasters.

Economic depression.

Food prices have gone up. Shelves aren't as stocked full. Civil unrest.

I would start prepping now before you have to compete with panic buyers. You all got a taste of it earlier this year.

Most real country folk like myself are already situated pretty well if/when there is a massive food shortage or civil unrest...

TFW already have plenty of guns and 1000s of rounds of ammo
TFW freezers already stocked full of deer meat and if you need more, just slide the back window of the house open and shoot one in the hay field
TFW spring fed creek down the hill for clean water

I luckily got a pressure canner and 72 pint sized mason jars before the panic buying kicked off earlier this year. I plan on going out and catching mullet with my cast net and canning them. Bag limit is 50 per day. I know a good spot and this is the season they migrate. Gotta get some more canned food when I have the funds. And I would like a water distiller but the prices are too high so I might have to make my own. Got my pellet rifle too with interchangable barrels. .22 and .17 caliber and 7500 rounds of .22 pellets. I had an order in for 2500 .17 pellets through tractor supply but they never notified me my order came and they returned it without contacting me. Pissed me off. Not gonna get into what else I have stocked but the thing I really need is 2 acres of rural land with few if any restrictions. I am aiming for January-March to buy. Hope land prices dont go crazy before I can get my piece.

This is my pellet rifle:



Its really nice and it shoots through 3/4" plywood at ~30-50 feet so I cant shoot it in my back yard. But thats a good thing I think. Main problem is it is about as loud as a .22 rifle. I think there might be some oil still inside that is igniting from the pressure and making the loud crack sound. I hope that goes away.

i always keep 5 cases of bottled water on hand. each case is 24 bottles at 16.9 oz. i drink it anyway. i also like to always have cold bottled water for guests. there's nothing worse than going to someone's house and they have no cold bottled water to drink. it's a disgrace.

Break barrels are a poor choice for hunting airguns. Due to the nature of how they function they are typically the least consistantly accurate guns. They are big. They are awkward to reload. Etc.


A .22 rifle and maybe some .22 short rounds if I want to be quieter is 10X more practical. If I were limited to an airgun I'd likely get a decent PCP. Probably a benjamin marauder .25. When it comes to air rifles .25 is the go to caliber for hunting. It has superior performance to even a .22 air rifle. Even for birds.


If I thought their was a high likely-hood of a societal breakdown and I'd need to hunt small game regularly I might consider a Marauder in .22 or .25 and I could hunt in smaller woulds within walking distance from my home. Pretty easy to stock-pile thousands of pellets for very cheap.

Aye, cool rifle man. I was just wondering. People always talk about how .22 rifles are one of the best survival weapons. .22 pellet rifles still pack some punch, so I'm sure it'll suffice for your needs.

Yes but I had to consider price of the rifle since I am trying to save every spare dollar right now for land. And had to consider price and availability of ammunition. I got 7500 pellets @ ~$0.012 / round. I think .22 ammo is at least $0.05 per round if you can even get any. I havent looked lately. This one is good enough for me. I have other things if I need to take larger game.

Edit: I just looked up my rifle and I see price has gone up. I bought it for ~$115 after shipping and taxes. I took the scope off.

They are an endless source of water straight from the earth free from synthetic fluoride, birth control, and traces of the pharma drugs people take today. More and more people need to start consuming spring water. It is free and runs all year long.

Where do you live?

You mentioned in another thread that you're in a pretty suburban/rural area but only 15 miles outside if downtown (Chicago). Can't think of anywhere even remotely rural or not dense suburban within 15 miles.

I'm downtown (River North). Das not it mane. Tons of foolishness going on around me. Trying to convince the lady to vacate the city, but we both work in the city and don't want long commutes.

bro, im not an ammo hoarder but 32 rounds inst gonna cut it. where im at you can still buy ammo from private sellers, granted its 2-3X standard price, i wouldn't be comfortable with less than 300

Hard AF to find ammo right now for any of the common calibers.

Just picked up 500 rounds of 9mm and 500 rounds of 5.56 from a guy who reloads from the next town over. Literally a steal, $180 for 9mm and $200 for the 5.56.

Also-guys, y'all should try stocking up on dry storage food. And...guys, Tai Lopez has a website called "Farmer's Cart".com. He offers meat and poultry in bulk. While the site/business is still up-it might be a good idea to order a bunch of stuff from him, and stock up.

I plan on canning fish. When canning it is important you do things correctly. If you dont can certain things like meat properly you can die from botulism, an illness caused by invisible, tasteless, and odorless toxin created by bacteria. Any cans that appear swollen should be thrown away. You can die from botulism. Don't follow directions from a person on youtube. This is something you want to find an authoritative source for.

During the War the Department of the Interior put out conservation bulletins you can find for free online. This one is about how to pressure can fishery products and has recipes:

I'm light on ammo and can't find any ammo around me.

I was one of the few people around this liberal hell hole (Chicago) that stocked up early on food. The second a COVID patient from China flew in to O'Hare and was at a local hospital back in late Feb I stocked up meat, beans, rice, and water. I've unfortunately made my way through most of that over the last 6 months to need to restock.

There's two things coming down the pipeline that I think have the potential to kick off months of extreme Civil unrest.
1) Trump wins.
2) Chauvin gets acquitted.
