It's not really banned except for a few states. It was made illegal for banks to transact w/gambling sites. Lots of other states have eased up recently but more for sports betting/fantasy sports for money.

I agree it is bullchit that cronyism fkd the scene in America on Black Friday... but it is very misleading to state that you can't play poker online. Plenty of options for playing poker online in America.

I'll never understand the logic behind the people that pushed the restrictions. During the internet poker boom of the early mid 2000's ... you'd go to a live poker room and it was always packed. After Black Friday... it is a small fraction of what it used to be. So if their angle was to shutdown online gambling in hopes that the money would then shift towards live gambling... they got a slap in the face.

OP isn't wrong. Some of the laws in this country are a bit ridiculous.

You can drunk off your ass and run the risk of idiots driving drunk but you can't take certain other bodybuilding enhancements that are nearly as damaging when done right.

You can smoke, become addicted to nicotine, and throw tons of money at cigarette companies but betting on sports is dangerous because it could leave you in financial ruin

You can be trusted to make the choice to ride a motorcycle without a seatbelt, but you're required to wear one in the car.... LOL

Because Jokerstars etc were based abroad and the Gov couldnt benefit

That and Ceasers being in the pocket of the gambling commission, and they were worried about revenue being diverted online and away from their venues
