Weighted Dips and Weighted Chinups [Lifters Edition]
how many of you guys actually have these two in your lifting regime or program?
I know some of you guys suffer injuries which prevent you from doing these but to those who can do them, benefits of both exercises are fukn phenomenal
Currently doing 30kg plated dips and gonna add another 10kg next week and its honestly brutal

I can't really do dips at all with my shoulders, but weighted chins are fun and I do them 1× a week.

used to be good at weighted dips, only do weighted chins now. the weighted dips felt like they were grinding my shoulders to dust and were painful.

If i got to 6 to 8 reps in 3 sets, id always up the weight next session on both exercises but follow the 5 sets of 5 reps and when you do that, keep adding in weight. Best rep scheme I followed.
No joke tho majority do bodyweight at the gym, I dont see anyone do anything weighted. It's just so damn interesting to see.

Used to do light weighted dips. Did sets with 20 kg but I feel they are risky because of injury.
I usually did weighted pull ups with anywhere from 15 kg - 20 kg but now I'm weak AF and heavy AF so I just do regular pull ups.
So yeah I used to do both.

I don't do dips any more.
I do love antagonistic supersets with BP. And been doing this over 35 years and this was yesterday.
(I'm an Japanese manlet weigh only 165 lbs, unlike you westernbehemothsit's really easier for me to do this.)
At my age, no longer can go real heavy ones but I still enjoy this.

Never do weighted chins or pull-ups.
Weighted dips I recently started doing again. Definitely think I make the most progress with them as a staple exercise.

Used to do both before lockdown and they are fantastic exercises, did 5x5 on the dips worked my up to 40kg. Pull ups and chins varied found it harder to track my progress on them but still made amazing gains. My biceps were in the best shape they’ve ever been in and all I did was a few sets of curls after the chins/pull ups.

I used to do weighted dips often. Iirc my best was +160 for 6 reps. Im pretty sure thats the reason my shoulders constantly hurt now.
Still do weighted pull ups albeit im only at +25 for 4x12 but im 200 pounds so not to bad.
