Dragonball Z Brahs GTFIH
I've never seen this chit and I'm planning to take advantage of nothing to do at work to binge it. Couple questions though....
- Do I need to watch Dragon Ball (started the first few episodes and it's just aight) or can I hop right into Dragon Ball Z?
- Should I watch regular Dragon Ball Z or should I watch Dragon Ball Z Kai with the chit edited down?
- Am I getting into this chit too late or is it awesome? I'm really following up on my desire to watch the Dragon Ball series because I just finished all of the My Hero Academia chit and absolutely loved that.
In to be awared on anything I need to be awared of

1. You can hop right into DBZ. It doesnt really matter
2. You could do either. If Kai looks better, do Kai
3. Its still an iconic series. If you dont know much about the series, you will probably like it.
If you do know a lot about dbz, I would say watch the Abridged series by TFS on youtube. Its funny as fuk

The best advice i can give to you is to watch the original Japanese version and just read the subtitles. The music and sounds used for the american version of DBZ is a complete ****fest compared to the music used in other dubs that did respect the original's soundtrack.
Americucks will tell you the music is great on their dub, but they dont know better. Trust me on this one, one of the things that make DBZ so good is their incredible soundtrack.
And i would watch Dragon Ball, assuming you have like 60 hours to kill lmao

I hate subtitles, watch it in English so you can immerse yourself in the action without being distracted to read. I watched the original as a kid but there was a ton of long, drawn out moments. Kai is a much better version imo.
Also, I got as far as the Buu saga before I lost interest but I'd say ideally the Cell saga is where you should stop. Frieza saga was ofc the GOAT.
Chit started going off the rails after that. Brb the main guy took a lifetime of training and being special to achieve something, suddenly later on in the show little kids are doing the same thing like it's no big deal.

With that being said the american dub is decent and the voices are great, its just the stupid soundtrack they chose that really blew everything apart. Its well known that the Latin American and the Japanese versions are the best (srs).

1. Watch it all in English, Goku is stupid annoying in Japanese (but it makes his retardation make sense)
2. Dragonball is not required and I don't recommend it. Nostalgia likes it, I tried to rewatch it and it isn't that good.
3. Watch Dragon Ball Kai. Kai is the exact same story as Z without all the garbage boring filler. It cuts down on scream episodes and the time for power up.
4. Don't bother with movies until you reach Super, as no movies are canon except Resurrection F, Battle of the Gods and Super Broly.
5. Enjoy.

Honestly I'd watch all 283 episodes of dragon ball Z instead of Kai. Sure, there's a lot of filler, but it's "slice of life" filler and part of the show IMO.

- Goku is grown up in DBZ, and has a son named Gohan.
- The old man Roshi taught him a lot regarding martial arts, his sensei.
- The other people on the island are all his friends from DragonBall, also now matured into seasoned warriors.
- Piccolo, the green alien, is a former enemy from DragonBall, and becomes an ally of convenience in DBZ, so that's where the initial tension comes from.
Equipped with that, you can start watching from Episode 1 knowing the basic relationships. Z instantly launches into its own verse very quickly, and any background you need (the Android/Cell saga), is fed to you in the episodes of Z pertaining to them.
Personally, I recommend watching the full series, NOT KAI first. You will get the full experience, and the filler was always part of the charm for me growing up. The power ups were always so much more worth it and epic, etc. Also, iirc, Kai is only complete up to the Buu saga, you can't even finish it with Kai. I could be wrong though, been a while for me.
Enjoy man. I think DBZ not being part of every kid's youth is why boys are all pussies these days but whatever.

Dragon ball is on hulu. English sub though so you'll have to get used to the voices. I've watched so much dbz I can flip flop between dubs and have it not bother me.
I like Kai from the fact they stuck as close to the script. The music is good but nothing beats Bruce Falconer.
Some of the filler is very annoying (Garlic Jr saga), but a lot is awesome and its tough watching dbz without it.

Listen, if you can't watch Dragon Ball Z, watch Dragon Ball Z Kai at least until the Cell Saga.
Kai haters are full of it, srs.
