2nd period the 2nd tower was hit. We weren't allowed to switch classes after that. Watched live as both towers fell.

i remember i was in 4th grade and i know this sounds fuked up but i was in 4th grade, but i told myself sweet we get to go home. i didnt understand how much history was changed that day until way later

Was just about to leave for college when this came on. Took the day off and bert started TV all day

Getting ready for school, about to leave when my friend called and told me what happened. Listened to news on the radio to school and I dont remember doing much in any class, we just had thews on the tv.

I remember teacher wheeling tv into Econ class to watch news had no idea what was happening. They cancelled football practice for awhile because they were worried about anthrax bombing. This was in Northern California city with population of 40k lol

9/10 really stands out to me. I was at karate camp, Barry Bonds hit 3 HR in Colorado and I got up early to do geometry on 9/11. The world changed so damn much. Even politics have changed so much -- have become so much more vitriolic.

Seeing people jump from these buildings and hearing the 911 calls is chilling. I've seen hundreds of people die at this point but all of this still tugs at my heart strings.

I was in 5th grade when it happened. Didn't even know what the twin towers were until a friend in school awared me. We were let out early and I was picked up by my mom.

When we got home my mom and I watched it on one of those old kitchen TVs shown below eating pistachios. That memory is burned into my brain

Crazy I was in the first grade 2001-2002 year, but I vividly remember experiencing these events with my kindergarten teacher and classroom. The teacher was this older lady. I remember she got a phone call and she started crying. She turned on the TV and then went to get her son from another classroom which was an older kid. I really didn't understand what was going on at the time but it was an experience for sure. Now that I think about it, how in the fuk do i remember this experience with the kindergarten setting and not the teacher i had for 1st grade?! srs

My first high school fight happened over the Oklahoma bombing. It was a few days later and was on the news they use to show in class. Some black kid behind said ‘nobody cares, it’s just a bunch of white people that died” so I got up and told him repeat what he said. He didn’t repeat it but he said something smart ass so I beat his ass in front of 3 girls he was trying to impress.

Yup. Town of 10,000 in the midwest. Classes stopped for three full days to watch the news.

One teacher tried to keep having classes and gave up.In all seriousness, tho, it was just not on anyone's mind that someone would do that deliberately.

In Current Year, people just assume all accidents are terrorism until proven otherwise. Back then, it was just like "LOL, no fukkin' way, the pilots were drunk".

Now everything is assumed collusion, terrorism, racism, etc. until proven otherwise

It was a pretty big deal in the uk. If you wonder why we hate our national broadcaster (the beeb) quite so much, they had a live discussion program that evening in which several contributors told the American ambassador in London that his country deserved it..
