will give him a listen, i have mixed feelings about him. He did expose the unconstitutional practices and spying on US citizens, had the balls to give up his 6 figure lifestyle for that but also on the otherside dude is super arrogant, narcissistic and really embellishes himself saying he was a CIA spy and all this chit when he was an IT guy

His story is not beleiveable in the slightest.

Hes just some narcissistic azzhole that the govt got to beleive he was some kind of special whistleblower, for the kind of chit people already knew the govt was capable of.

It was all speculative before. He proved it. It was those leaks that launched the USA Freedom Act that helped finally put some limits on NSA surveillance. It also is what has allowed organizations to litigate AT&T and the NSA.

How can you possibly read through this list and think he didn't leak anything new.

i think what he did was a good thing but something doesnt sit right with me with him as a person. Hes EXTREMELY arrogant and relishes in the spotlight. True heroes dont view themselves as a hero, he clearly does.

If you only see people in terms of black and white you open yourself to manipulation. The guy took some risk but is an obvious narcissist and embellished his own background because he was enjoying the attention.

As to whether he should be pardoned we dont know the full extent of what he put at risk. You realize that under 1% of what he took from the secure networks was ever released in the media. He took hundreds of gigabytes or something like that and they only published a small amount. We dont know what information he put at risk to our adversaries so it is impossible to say if he should be pardoned without the full story.

Literally loll at worrying that he could have risked our precious safety that the NSA gives us when the cost was our privacy and freedom. Mentality like that is exactly why we're heading towards authoritarianism. Obey and they'll protect us.

No one's perfect.

Snowden didn't start out as a firefighter, cop, or medic. He was thrown into a situation, he thought it was wrong, and exposed it. That doesn't get rid of any personal/character flaws, he is still the same person. You can be a hero and have chitty personality.

Definitely take what he says with grain of salt, but I agree. A lot of chit was sold to us under the guise of safety (i.e. Unpatriotic act)

If he truly was in the right and he felt so strongly about it, why didn't he do it the right way? There are so many ways he could have done this without leaking the information.

This. The NSA just found some narcissistic dweeb that was so full of himself that he beleived he would be a hero for "exposing" what we already knew.

Never has he demonstrated his computing "genius". Never is it ever explain how he taught himself all the comp sci stuff.

The funniest thing is that his leaks changed nothing. People still willingly allow everyone access to the very data that the government is collecting. He made no difference at all, he thought he was going to be this big hero and he is living in Russia and his father is going to die and he won't even be able to see him. He is such a self-absorbed person though, he would probably make it about himself anyway.

So your argument is that because we can't do much about it, we should continue to have information hidden from us by our government that violates our rights? We shouldn't have anyone blow the whistle on anything unless it can be fixed right away?

And it helped get the USA freedom act in, which helped reform provisions of the Patriot act.
