Should you feel embarrassed driving an old car? (srs)

My car is a 2006 Holden Commodre this is what it looks like:

drives like a truck

Aus brahs will lol at me as this car is old and ****

The problem is i wasted all my money over the last few years on gambling/hookers and trying to win big to get my ex girlfriend back but failed (Lost $25,000 - $30,000) so now i'm saving money i don't want to waste it on a new car i onyl have $10,000 in savings and probably $15,000 by the end of the year, I culd upgrade and buy something for $7,500 - $10,000 but is it worth it?

I just feel embarressed as **** being 26 and driving a car so old made few learners

I just need to wait till end of next year and i'll have about around $50k in savings

Only if you're feeling that insecure and if you want to.

Driving a 2006 hand-me-down car myself, it gets me from point A to B and that's all I need until I'm richer.

Most sloots I bring over drive nice cars but have roommates or live with their parents, you figure out what's better.

Yes you should be embarrassed. Now go tick up a 80,000$ car at 5% interest to impress people. Be a good debt slave

I saw the light and sold my 2017 4x4 dual cab top of the line. Paid out the 15,000$ still owing on it, now debt free. Now I drive an 11 year old Mazda 3 while building my dream project car.

a few of my friends are caresalesmen IRL.

The amount of people that take 8 year loans on cars with nothing/ minimal down is >75%. SRS.

people who buy 25-70k cars most likely cant afford them. when you see people buy 75k+ cars, they likely could buy them outright.

You should be embarrassed if you drive a rust bucket that makes rattling noises. A nice looking car like the one you posted is just fine though.

I drive a 2011 BMW 3 Series and the shock absorbers failed and it was making the most obnoxious noises for the last couple months. Just had it repaired, and it's driving as good as new. Best $400 I could have spent because it renewed my love for the car and will make me want to drive it at least 2 more years.

Depends on your age tbh. If you're under 25 and driving a beater chitbox. I wouldn't judge. But if you're older than that still whipping a chitbox I'd def judge. An average decent car these days doesn't cost much to own.

I have my work truck I dont pay for, it's a 2019.

I have a 2014 Hyundai I got for free from my neighbor who I helped around his place due to his age I use as a parts hauler and bullchitting around town. Drives fine.

I'm investing a significant amount of money into a 1998 Nissan which some people think is asinine but I don't give a fuk cause I love it

Just remember that a large percent of people who lease their new cars are LITERALLY one missing paycheck away from catching a repo. Most people live outside their means

No way man, driving something old is the best. Especially if it's rusted and dented to hell. Then you never care where you park it. I drove a $500 80's Lincoln like a pimp for 3 months while I was waiting for the weather to warm up to fix my broken Acura.

Nah fam, I have a 2018 car that I got through payments and I wish I had picked the 2004 camry instead. Cars are useless assets, crash it and you’re done

As long as you’re not driving a 1994 eco box car you’re good
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Fellow aussie brah.

My car is a 2001 Honda Civic that has a massive dent at the front. I'm a professional manager making 6 figures. I also own my own house in Melbs that's around 900k. I literally have the worst car and best house on the street. I LMAO when I see renters driving around in a brand new cars, because they're dumb kunts.

Fuk the car, save for house. If you're making money now, house prices will be stagnant for the next 3-5 years, you're racing against the clock before it goes ballistic again. You probably seen what happened in melbs and syd when it goes up. Even fukkin brissy will go nuts when it starts going up. try to get 100-200k for a 20% deposit on a house before prices go up and you're locked out forever.

Who TF cares about cars in oz anyway. If you drive a nice one, 100% guarantee some kunt will scratch it. My first boss bought a 7 series and had to get it repainted once a month because derros kept keying it. He wasn't even a kunt, they just keyed his car for chits and giggles.

Caring about how people perceive you based on your vehicle is embarrassing srs

I’m daily driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring my parents gave me and I fukn love it in a lot of ways, having zero concern about damage and being able to drive the chit out of the car makes up for a lot of shortcomings in terms of modern features etc

Could easily upgrade to a really nice ride but don’t feel so inclined

It's a depreciating asset, possibly one of, if not the only one that goes down in value by 50% soon as you drive off the fcuking lot LOL

Just take of it, take it for the yearly tune ups and chit and you'll have it forever damn near. Bezos was driving a honda when he was making millions the way we type words
