2008-2009 was worse economically IMO. and 2000-2003 was no picnic either.

mid 20s young brah living through his first recession. will definitely make it through, but the financial set-back really hit me right in the kisser. in 2019, I literally couldn't have dreamt of a worse case scenario worse than 2020. feelsbadman.jpg

2008 had much more optimism, people werent as divided and the media wasnt launching fear porn campaigns. If anything, they were downplaying the crooks on wall street, making a mockery of the tea party, and calling occupy wallstreet insane when it started

I remember gas being over $4-5/gal. That really sucked for most people

bunch of my friend's parents got laid off and had to move to find work.

But 2020 will be worse once the stimulus/unemployment ends and mass evictions start.

Marxism in the US is at an all time high.

The job market was much worse in 2008 than now, just because the housing crash really started in 2005-2006 and 2008 is when it finally infected the entire financial system.

This time around, the economy was very strong but it's not like that many jobs are going to be lost permanently. However, this year sucks significantly more than 2008 did.

We are actually not in that bad of a situation right now. This time around, it will force a lot of baby boomers to finally retire but I bet in another 12-24 months this chit is going to be strong as fuk again. Also, sometime in the year or two there will likely be a major Infrastructure bill passed which will take all of the laid off service workers and put them into the construction industry. Along with decoupling from China, we are headed into another period of significant growth.

Social media makes it so political BS can reach a lot larger audience. Luckily, most of that stuff will disappear in another 6 weeks.

You're joking, right?

2008 was a fukking vacation, a joyful, delightful experience filled with memories of great happiness and the cleanest, best pleasure in comparison to 2020.

I imagine 2020 is what the Great Depression Era was like, except 2020 is about 100 billion million trillion infinity plus one times WORSE.

I was in high school in 2008, unemployed living with my folks. so 2008 meant nothing to me. I wanted to ask because 2020 has been such a terrible difficult year to be alive and a wagecel. so I was wondering if I was being a little btch or if it is actually this bad.

2008 was much worse from an economic perspective. 2020 is more destabilizing from a cultural and day to day life routines perspective, but in terms of jobs and cash and hand 2008 was worse.

In 2008 you had a stock market absolutely tank and take years to recover(2020 market drop is already back to normal...in fact it was fastest recovery ever in history).

2008 hiring dried up and didn't rebound for years.

Wall Street was brought to the brink.

There were runs on banks. Many banks failed.

General motors went bankrupt

If not for AiG bailout and tarp Goldman Sachs merryl lynch and citi bank would have failed too. GE was failing.

In 2020 many of these companies are posting record profits and don't need govt cash infusions. Walmart Amazon and tesla are sky high right now.

2008 felt like an entire generation (millenials) were screwed and we would never recover our careers (most havent). This time around in 2020 the only stress is these zoomers to get the beat off during the working day while they turn off their zoom camera during the morning stand up. Not that bad.

No, you're not being a little bitch, this is the worst it has ever been and it's not even close.

The entire nation is in decline, it's just that a lot of people don't realize it yet. Anytime we've got problems on a scale like this, the solution is ALWAYS worse.

2001, surely you remember what happened that year, the solution was and still is WORSE

2008, I was unscathed and I don't know a single person that got hit by the events that year, but even if it was different and there was some difficulty, it would not have been as bad as this year has been. Morality, economy, safety all in decline, there were no domestic terrorists in 2008, with, what is apparently a license to sack and destroy the cities they happen to be in. Bruce Jenner still knew he is a man back then, video games weren't scams to take your money, etc., etc. The nation has never been more divided and the future has never been more uncertain and there are MONSTROUS lies being spread both in mainstream and social media outlets, so on and so on.

The biggest concern for any one should be the solution that we're moving toward.

Says who. I'm hearing of multiple recent grads who had offers rescinded and internships get curbed.
