Top 5 most free countries in the world (lmao “land of the free” not even in top 15)

These countries rank as the top 5 most free countries in the world

1) Singapore
2) Hong Kong
3) New Zealand
4) Australia
5) Switzerland

https://www.heritage.org/index/ranking

Hilarious to see the US, which prides itself as being the land of the free, is not even in the top 15 for being free.

The US are number One at most incarcerations of their citizens so at least you yanks are winning at something lol

Singapore is the biggest nanny state in the world. BRB, in jail for chewing gum. List is a joke.

The Heritage Foundation is a conservative activist organization promoting freedom and limited government in America. You think they are going to rank America high on a freedom scale given the reason for their very existence?

Also once again, America is all up in OP's brain.

Not sure if srs about Singapore. That website is based on economic freedom, not human rights.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Singapore

The government has restricted freedom of speech and freedom of the press and has limited other civil and political rights.[18] The right to freedom of speech and association guaranteed by Article 14(1) of the Constitution of Singapore is restricted by the subsequent subsection (2) of the same Article.

The only place in Singapore where outdoor public assemblies do not require police permits (for citizens) is at the Speakers' Corner which is loosely modelled on Hyde Park, London. However, foreigners still require a permit to speak at the park, and one must still register one's personal details with the National Parks Board online before speaking or protesting at the Speakers' corner, and there are also many surveillance cameras in the park, a situation that some Singaporeans and Singaporean MPs have commented on.[19][20]

Police permits are also not granted to events that are deemed to have a "significant risk of public disorder" and those that could "incite feelings of hostility between different racial and religious groups" in Singapore.[21]

According to Amnesty International, laws were tightened in 2010 to limit the freedom of expression and assembly, and to stifle critics and activists. Lawsuits were taken out by the authorities against dissidents. Government critics and human rights defenders nevertheless held public gatherings.[22]

Censorship of political and racially or religiously sensitive content is also extensive, and is imposed in the form of stringent media regulations and criminal laws,[23] and indirect approaches through OB markers on local journalists and withdrawal of public arts funding.[24] Press freedom has been curtailed over the years through various national security laws, such as the Internal Security Act, the Sedition Act and the Official Secrets Act.[25] Government pressure to conform has resulted in the practice of self-censorship by journalists

The Singapore Constitution does not include a right to privacy and the data protection act does not protect citizens from government-sanctioned surveillance.[28] The government does not need prior judicial authorisation to conduct any surveillance interception,[29] and documents that restrict what officials can do with personal data are classified.[30] In a U.S State Department report in 2015, it is believed that law enforcement and government agencies have extensive networks for gathering information and conducting surveillance. A majority of Singaporeans are under the impression that authorities track telephone conversations and the use of the internet of civilians, and routine checks are done on some opposition politicians and other government critics.

Cliffs:

- Limits on freedom of speech/press/assembly
- Surveillance state and lack of privacy

I figure the Scandinavian countries would be up there.

I guess they are more socialized. It depends on what standards you are using to measure freedom.

As someone suggested, if that is just economic freedom, then lol. That hardly applies to the population in general.

I have seen many “freedom” evaluations that measure everything from incarceration rate (obviously) to the number of day care centers per capita. With some really weird metrics, but they all make sense when you try to explore the reason for their inclusion.

Protip, even though Americans have guns does not make us the most free lol.

But we are fortunate to live in this country.

South Africa mostly unfree... quite funny that we are technically 10% behind france.

I wonder if its because
1. Our police force are useless and they cant catch anyone unless they hand themselves in ?
2. Our jails are so full that we just release murderers and rapists ?
3. We are on average more armed than the US, because every day we fear we could get killed if we dont carry ?

We can barely walk the streets at night outside of in purely upper middle class "white" hoods because more people get murdered here per day than people (civilian or military) than the average peak of the US middle east invasion.

On the other hand I can literally walk into town and buy any kind of drugs I want to on the street, in broad daylight, so ayyy at least im free to do that

I agree that the US is not the land of the free, it's some bs ideal that "patriotic cucks" hold on to

From my travels, I've felt more free in almost every other country (especially the 3rd world)...no one gives a fuk what you do lol

Too many laws/rules here in the US and it's still fukd up. American's are a bunch of entitled pussys that cry about everything and throw temper tantrums if they can't have it their way.

You can spread lies and fake news about the most powerful man in the nation/world in America and absolutely nothing happens to you. If that’s not what freedom is, idk what is.

US is the most free right now in the entire world but media wants to destroy that, just LOL at that list, it's literally a parody of freedom

Freedom to these cucks means free health care, free school, UBI, government subsidized everything, high taxes, no freedom to own firearms, to own private land, that's the new definition of freedom, as long as you're "safe" you're now "free"

clown world
