How full is your gym??
I have been going back to my local gym pretty regularly over the past few weeks. It is almost always, completely empty:

Honestly would have thought people would line up to get back in the gym. Spoke to a trainer and he said that people "are scared".
Is this a NYC thing? Screenshot above is Equinox - their busiest location in Manhattan, I'd say. For context: the max booking slots is 31 spots per half hour. When I go in there are usually 28 spots still free.

Private key club gym, when the regular crews are there its packed. Mainly Friday night you'll see 4 benches full, Saturday and Sunday mornings you'll find 3 monolifts full. Plus a bunch of other people doing other stuff.

But if you look around online - seems a huge amount of people want to get back in the gym.
That's why I asked if it's a NYC thing...weird as hell, and maybe depends where you live.

Our gyms opened beginning of June. Since I've been going back, I've only gone late afternoon on Sundays before they close. It's pretty dead. Maybe 10 people in there at most.

I'm talking about my gym where there'd be 100+ at any peak time over the entirety of the class/spinning/free weights/mobility etc. area. Today I saw 3. It's settling in as a 'wtf' to me, and according to this trainer - plenty of people are scared now (NYC? NE thing?) and didn't come back after gyms re-open.

The 5AM crew is back in full swing. Same regulars that were there before lockdown. Gets pretty busy between 6-730AM. Haven't frequented in the evening but I'm pretty sure its slammed from what my friend tells me.

honestly, I couldn’t care cause the monthly prices will lower for the gyms that remain.

I own a gym and we’re back to pre-covid levels, actually the membership is about 15% higher, we were able to pull members whose gyms didn’t make it. Our clientele are generally a little hood or hs/college athletes that really don’t give a fk about the virus. It’s been obnoxious having our classes shut down for 7 months but those are more of a perk than a driver for membership. Sucks for the instructors though. We have 6 personal trainers who are doing well with “quarantine 15“ in full effect.
Gym up the street from me used to be completely full, people parking in other businesses parking lots full, had an older wealthier clientele however. The parking lot is maybe 5-10% full when I drive by, I politely let the owner know to hit me up if they’re considering closing and need to liquidate equipment.
It’s really going to depend on a gym’s membership market and what the gym is geared towards.
Our gym had zero debt and a decent % of the members have their fee paid by their health insurance companies so we’re shielded from shutdowns, all 3 partners have 6 figure jobs outside of the gym. It is sad talking to other owners though that have second mortgages and quit their 9-5.

It gets busy but fewer women and it empties quicker in the evenings/last hour of open time.

Depends on the time of day and the actual day
I work out at the YMCA
Only other gyms near me are a 2 planet fitness, 2 CrossFit “boxes” (whatever the hell that is) and a dinky new small town gym run by a tyrannical middle aged hobbit woman.

The gym I was going to is in receivership because the owner was doing some illegal things. It’s currently closed so I’m doing the home gym until it gets figured out in court.

The trainer I spoke to said he was lucky: had people signing up for his virtual personal training.
But after all the ruckus made about "it's closed!!!" my gym is deserted. And most of the restaurants with indoor dining seem to be, as well. And something like 80% of restaurants in NYC couldn't pay the rent this month so...yeah.

Say, ˹O believers,˺ We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.

24 fitness super sport out here in cali
It's pretty much completely full during the evening slots. Maybe not as packed as it would be without covid but it's definitely impossible to stay 6 feet apart. Could be because it's now like 6am-8pm instead of 24 hours.
