My wife's grandfather drank a 5th a day for 20 years. Gramps finally got sober and stopped drinking at age 65. He lived to be 85.

I have a neighbor who’s done it every day for 40 years, I’m truly amazed he’s still alive but I think his mind is starting to go a little.

BRB being chained to a substance to do normal functions (work, sleep, eat, etc.)
BRB going into withdrawals and likely ending up in a hospital or dying
BRB malnourished
BRB eventual DT’s
BRB feeling like chit all the time and constant anhedonia due to alcohol screwing with your reward system
I could go on and on...

the real damage from drinking is the quality food/nutrients that it displaces
true alkies barely eat and are deficient in several nutrients as a result
over time, that causes real degeneration srs

i knew of two people that died in their 40s from liver issues from drinking
one guy was ALWAYS drunk or buzzed every time i saw him, every time. He didnt work and mooched off my aunt.
i think it is luck of the draw, a fifth seems hardcore to me but i barely drink, some russians probably laugh at that, some people have probably died young at that rate.
