*89k reps* Rate my new thanksgiving weekend oil painting
This was an impromptu painting. We had beautiful autumn weather here over the weekend. I live in the mountains surrounded by forest and I've always wanted to try painting outdoors. However, I use a lot of equipment and make a mess with my oils when I paint. I found a suitable compromise in creating an "under painting" using gesso and acrylics out on my porch. The day after, once the acrylic was dried, I added oils to the canvas. I wanted to create the illusion of sunlight filtering through the forest at sunset, trying to capture that golden, misty haze that accompanies this time of day.
I had a bit of trouble getting my bush highlights to stick as my brushes are getting kind of worn out and I didn't have a thicker layer of paint underneath (painted directly on dry canvas), but this was really fun.

Here's a picture of what it looked like before adding the oils:

If anyone has any suggestions or photos of landscapes, I'm always looking for ideas. At this point, it's sometimes difficult to imagine what to paint.

Nice painting! Well done on getting that hazy sunlight effect, takes skill.
Do any action paintings, like Frazetta or Boris Vallejo? Was the only one in my classes that did stuff like this, always got lulzy responses.

You have this technique pat down, time to branch out and bring more variety, there's a lot of bob ross style painters. You will definitely do well in other styles and even sell stuff
8/10, this is close to the best you can get with this technique I think, but you're wasting your potential if you don't move forward
