Numbness in hands since I started lifting?

Been lifting in earnest for a year and a half now.

Started finding my pinkie and ring finger and that side of my hand going numb regularly. Both hands, especially when I sleep. Always wake up with them numb, and also happens when I hold my arms in certain positions.

It goes away ten or so seconds.

Never used to happen. Any theories on why?

inb4 too much fapping.

Could be sleeping on it. Could be trapping a nerve or could be circulation related. Probably a nerve

I think numbness is my case is caused by a nerve being constricted.

Just curious since it never happened before I lifted. I have slept on my arm and had the whole thing numb, but only half of it is odd.

Could be something with your ulnar nerve. Any shoulder pain? if so potentially long thoracic nerve.
Dont wanna mess with nerves, go see a doc.

Sounds like a nerve issue, but honestly could be anywhere. I believe there is a particular nerve that gives sensation to the pinky and the outside half of the ring finger, and then another nerve for the rest of the hand/fingers. Could be trapped in the wrist, should, neck..

You bb squat heavy?

edit: I lost feeling in my hand years ago, couldn't even hold a fork properly. It freaked me out. I went to a chiro, he confirmed I had a twisted vertebra in my neck, he made it right, and I went on jackin it.

You probably have a pinched cervical nerve. I would make sure to reduce stress on your cervical spine and to also do your neck exercises for the next 8 weeks. Yes, sucking cawk counts.

I have a sports chiro guy I might see first since it is free to do so.

I have impingement in my right shoulder, but numbness is in both.

I will admit, it is certain positions that causes it. Seems off that lifting would cause it to happen tho. I have a background in human kinetics and It is something I have never heard of.

Would like to avoid doctors offices if i can cuz COVID

Both arms means your neck, son.

I hurt my knee so starting bb squat at like 200 lbs again and working back up, so no not lately.

Maybe my sports chiro is a good place to start.

A chiro or physiotherapist might help. My hand went numb previously, a chiro fixed some chit and it haven't returned since (I went 5-6 years ago for something else, but after that the numbness went away)

I get the same numbness when i rest my elbow and have my arm bent too long.

I used to wake up to it, so i will wear a writ guard to bed in order to keep my hand straight.

Also had a Dr do a carpel tunnel test but was told i didnt have the signs.

Im guessing some sort of tennis elbow although anything can be pinching that nerve along the line.

I had something similar last year where I started to get numb fingers, mostly thumb side. Figured somewhere along the median nerve gets restricted, so probably carpal tunnel syndrome.
I completely stopped doing dips, and it slowly (over a couple months), got better. Have no numbness issues now. Not sure if that caused it, or if it was coincidence, but I did them excessively.
Scary stuff though to suddenly lose feeling in your fingers especially if it doesn't improve.

It seems to be really easy to get it to fall asleep. Like a few minutes bent or in an off position. It goes away real fast once you shake it out, but I prefer being on top of things before they become a problem.

Have the same chit. Cant hold a phone up to my ear for more than a cpl minutes before the pinky goes numb then that whole side of my hand. Also happens when i sleep and wakes me up.

Id like to say its cuz my biceps are so huge it cuts off circulation, but they arwnt that big. Lol
