Macroeconomics is a ruling joke

Brb being taught about racial inequality and the "gender wage gap" completely ignoring a textbook written by Oxford students and not learning a single damn basic economic principle like inflation

Let me explain in the interview why the company should hire laquisha and pay her 1.2x more than she is being offered

Surely this will help me with my finance degree

that’s not what mine was about.

I hate management classes significantly more and I have to take 5+ of them. genuinely a class based on nothing yet you’re graded like it’s a math class

I majored in Economics, never even heard of what you are talking about. The state of college education has devolved into pure garbage. Learn a trade...before the left destroys that too.

if women get paid 79% as much as dudes but do equal work, they would be the best deal ever and companies would be scrambling to hire as many as possible

I took it in 2010. Wasn't anything about inequality but the teacher constantly ranted about Republicans.

People who went straight from mom's house --> college --> 5 year career --> teaching - are bias about politics and living in a bubble. Shocker.

Economics is common sense applied to large nations. Should be easy as ****. The problem is assuming consumers are rational (or markets for that matter). We're living in the twilight zone right now, where nationalization is common in 'capitalistic' economies. Also know as privatized gains, socialized losses. Such things weren't mean to happen in capitalism, and so now we're in this perverted form of suspended disbelief.

The only useful thing I've learned is that wages haven't increased linearly with inflation while revenues and GDP have increased.

I guess the only way to make it in 2020 is to become a capitalist.

Little bit of both.. if you’re an engineer, you can easily pass those intro classes with almost zero effort.

Depends on the teacher I guess. My teacher was the Liberal Environment type with a background in Keynesianism. She would go on mini rants about how the government doesn't support teachers enough and or does very little about the environment. Basically thought the government should intervene in about everything. There was the occasional women make less then men tirade but those were less prevalent.

I got a B or a C+ in that class without much effort tbh. Could have got higher if the teacher was organized but she went on mini rants too often.

Currently doing a Masters in Econ and questioning my life decisions

Brb only applicable skills (software and statistical skills) I'm supposed to learn I essentially have to teach myself

Brb only real teaching has to do with abstract proofs and highly theoretical models. Anything interesting thus far has just been assigned as additional reading on the side

Uni these days for the vast majority of degrees is probably 90% signaling... You learn hardly anything relevant to the job market, it's just a way employers filter out applicants since you have to possess a modest level of intelligence and work ethic to get through

Lifetime financial returns on decent degrees are still positive though, so it's still worth it for some people, but it's just a BS hoop you have to jump through for a lot of career paths

I enrolled in macroeconomics for a while before I transferred out for another class. The material they taught at the beginning was so basic it blew my mind. Learning how to understand a slope intercept form equation... like wat?
