Phone Storage Keeps Filling Up

I keep deleting more and more apps and text threads and pictures and it just keeps filling up.

When I try to manage my storage, almost 50% of the memory is being used for “other”. Not apps, not pics, not systems, just.....other.

Is this apple just going in dry to get me to buy a new phone?

back up your data and reset your iphone

had the same problem- the OS is filling up memory with something and it's not actually full. it eventually will become unusable (apps crashing).

worked fine for me after the reset.

Yes, dead srs. It happened to my iPhone 5 and my iPhone 7. Both times around the next generation announcement. It only gets worse if you delay your upgrade too. I ended up deleting almost everything on my phone and my storage was still full. It got to the point where I would refresh my settings and watch the available storage shrink in real time from absolutely nothing.

Disable updates. Modern software is bloatmaxxing srs. It's like phucking Chrome browser - absolute phucking bloatware. Either intentionally or unintentionally as RAM and storage capacity goes up so does the disregard for how optimized their software is. It's not that your phone is slowing down it's that you now run more demanding chit.
